Matt Bowen and his son David put a variety of fi****ms and calibers to the test, both suppressed and unsuppressed, so you can hear and see the difference for yourself.
If you've ever wondered whether a suppressor is worth the investment, this video gives you a firsthand look at the benefits. Suppressors significantly reduce the noise produced when firing and can also help reduce felt recoil, making shooting more comfortable and improving overall control.
One factor that greatly affects suppressor performance is the type of ammunition being used. Subsonic ammunition travels below the speed of sound, eliminating the loud sonic crack that occurs when a bullet breaks the sound barrier. This results in the quietest possible shooting experience when paired with a suppressor. Supersonic ammunition, on the other hand, travels faster than the speed of sound and still produces that sonic crack, even when fired through a suppressor. While a suppressor will still reduce muzzle blast and overall noise, supersonic rounds will always be louder than subsonic rounds.
