How the Scale Fails to Measure Up!
You've been working out consistently for a few weeks. Getting up early, packing your lunch, avoiding sweets and drinking more water. After two weeks, you feel its time to step on the scale. To your utter amazement, you have gained 3lbs. Immediately, you feel an overwhelming sensation of discouragement. You think to yourself, why is this the case? What did you do wrong?
Absolutely nothing! One major reason so many people "give up" on exercise is because the scale is the dominant tool used to measure progress. This is an issue. The scale only measures total mass. The scale cannot tell you if 2lb weight gain is lean muscle or fat. Conversely, if you see a 3lb weight loss the scale cannot tell you if 2lb were fat and 1lb was muscle. The scale is limited in the information it can provide.
Whats the solution? XMT-3 Training utilizes calipers in combination with the scale to help determine your bodyfat percentage. Your overall bodyfat percentage takes into account gender, age, weight and skinfold measurements from various areas of the body. Most importantly, the bodyfat percentage separates Fat from Lean Muscle tissue (skeletal muscle). Using calipers in combination with the scale is a much better way to track progress along your fitness journey. All XMT-3 Training clients are provided their unique bodyfat percentage after the FREE consultation. From there, we work to help improve those numbers through the personal training process.
