Minnesota Monsters Name Willie Howard as Senior Consultant
The Minnesota Monsters are proud to announce the immediate appointment of Willie Howard as the organization’s Senior Consultant.
A 2001 graduate of Stanford University and a second-round NFL Draft selection by the Minnesota Vikings, Howard brings decades of leadership, relationship-building, and football experience to the Monsters organization.
After career-ending injuries brought his playing career to a close, Howard began his coaching journey with the Minnesota Vikings under Head Coach Mike Tice through the prestigious Bill Walsh NFL Minority Coaching Fellowship, where he gained valuable experience at the professional level. That opportunity launched a coaching and leadership career dedicated to developing athletes and building successful programs.
Howard earned his bachelor’s degree in Communication from Stanford University before continuing his education with a master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Concordia University, St. Paul, followed by a Specialist degree in Educational Leadership from Minnesota State University, Mankato. His commitment to developing people has defined every stage of his career.
Professionally, Howard currently serves as the Activities Director at Robbinsdale Cooper High School, where he is entering his fifth year in the role after previously serving for several years as the school’s Assistant Principal. His passion for education, mentorship, and building successful programs has earned him respect throughout Minnesota’s athletic community.
Prior to becoming an administrator, Howard spent 15 seasons as the Head Football Coach at Robbinsdale Cooper High School. During his tenure, he helped more than 150 student-athletes earn opportunities to continue their football careers at the collegiate level. Beyond the wins and losses, he became widely recognized for his tireless commitment to student development, college recruiting, and creating meaningful opportunities for young athletes throughout the community.
Known for his ability to build genuine relationships and connect people, Howard has established an extensive network throughout the football world. Those relationships, combined with his vision for developing championship cultures, make him a tremendous addition to the Minnesota Monsters organization.
As Senior Consultant, Howard will provide strategic guidance, organizational leadership, and support across football operations as the Monsters continue their pursuit of excellence and prepare for their playoff run.
Howard’s reputation has always been built on one principle: people matter. Whether in professional football, education, or the community, his leadership has consistently focused on building relationships, creating opportunities, and helping others reach their full potential. He now brings that same passion and energy to the Minnesota Monsters as the organization continues its pursuit of a championship.
