Hey everyone! I'm about to dump a significant amount of information regarding tomorrows Bulldog (FAT)Bike Bash, but please bear with me.
First, the trails are a bit icy, so prep your studded tires. That being said, I went out riding this morning without studs and was able to ride without falling, and only had to walk a few of the longer hills. As the event goes on though they might become more and more necessary.
Because of this, I'd like to put emphasis on the fact that there are no awards for the race. It is simply a chance to get some bonus miles and a tiny amount of pride. If you'd like to get some serious speed, there are plenty of roads around Duluth you can explore. We'd like everyone to get in some miles and have a good time, but if people are recklessly shredding the snow covering the ice or riding off cliffs and getting hurt, that complicates things.
Helmets are MANDATORY! I feel like this won't be an issue for most people, but I have to say it just in case. If you don't have a helmet, you can't ride.
There is a pedestrian bridge crossing Amity Creek that was recently closed due to 'structural integrity concerns.' You can see this bridge while riding, but the marked course heads the other way. If you find yourself hiking about during the event, don't try to cross it.
Someone is missing there dog (Tober) after a hike at Lester the other day. If you happen to see Tober during the event, let us know and we can help get him back to the owner. There are pictures and contact information on the COGGS page and we will also have those at the registration table.
Lastly, we really don't know how many of you will show up. If everyone does and nobody brings food, we might run out. If you are going, and are able to bring some food, please do. You can add your name and what you are bringing to the list found here (we could use some more baked goodies): https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1X2ycPY31rn56xNTmfEucFZgEo9c3ejaJIc7FXu1Zwp4/edit?usp=sharing
Thanks again to Day Tripper of Duluth for helping provide the team with fat bikes. This should be good experience for us and everyone else who attends!
We hope to see you all there!
