Sibling rivalry… but make it productive. 😎🏒

These two make the trip from Hibbing to Duluth all summer long to put in the work, and it shows!!

Before the speed starts, the prep begins. Every session kicks off with a dynamic warm-up to activate the muscles, improve mobility, and get the body ready to perform.

Then it’s time to level up. 📈

Working with their sticks on the Skatemill, they’re training speed, coordination, puck control, and skating mechanics all at once - because hockey doesn’t happen one skill at a time.

One thing’s for sure… if you’re riding in the car together for that long, you’d better make the training session worth it. 😉

Thanks for making the trip and trusting us with your development all summer long. Keep putting in the work! 💪

⚡ Speed is more than top-end skating! It’s how quickly you can accelerate and decelerate.

Today’s drill focuses on a Speed Pyramid Workout, challenging athletes to build explosive acceleration while maintaining the control to slow down efficiently and prepare for the next movement.

In hockey, the fastest player isn’t always the one with the highest top speed - it’s the player who can get to full speed first, stop under control, and explode again.

That’s exactly what we’re training.

Train with purpose. Skate with speed. 🏒💨

🏒 Welcome Coach Autumn Cooper! 🏒

Some stories come full circle, and this is one of them.

Autumn was one of the very first athletes to train with us on the Northern Elite Training Facility Skatemill, and today, we’re proud to welcome her back! This time as a coach.

Her work ethic, leadership, and passion for the game have taken her to an incredible collegiate career, and we couldn’t be more excited for our athletes to learn from someone who’s walked the path herself.

A few highlights from Autumn’s hockey journey:
⭐ Assistant Captain at Bemidji State University (2026–27)
⭐ Entering her junior season with the Beavers
⭐ Majoring in Physical Education & Health Education
⭐ 2024 Wisconsin Ms. Hockey (Player of the Year)
⭐ Two-time Jinelle Siergiej Forward of the Year
⭐ Jeff Sauer Humanitarian Award recipient
⭐ Three-year captain at Superior High School
⭐ Five-year Team Wisconsin player

Autumn understands what it takes to develop as a player because she’s lived it—from being one of our earliest Skatemill athletes to competing at the NCAA level.

We’re incredibly proud of everything she’s accomplished, and we can’t wait for the next generation of players to learn from her experience, leadership, and love for the game.

Welcome home, Coach Autumn! 💚🖤

Every powerful stride starts with proper technique. 🏒

Today’s focus: Stridework.

By holding the support bar, players can lock into proper hockey posture—bending at the ankles, knees, and hips—while isolating each phase of the skating stride: push, full extension, and recovery.

Using the mirror, athletes can evaluate their own mechanics in real time while receiving immediate feedback from their coach. Combined with Coaching Eye video analysis from multiple angles, players gain a better understanding of what efficient skating should look and feel like.

Strong skating isn’t built by skating harder - it’s built by skating smarter. 🏒

It all starts with the edges. 🔥

Today’s focus: inside & outside edge transitions.

Athletes are challenged to move seamlessly from edge to edge before progressing to more advanced work - leaning deeper into their edges to create sharper turns, better balance, and greater control.

The stronger your edgework, the more efficient every stride, cut, and crossover becomes.

The little details make the biggest difference. 🏒💪
