It’s hard to find the words for something like this.
Yesterday, our community lost a young man far too soon. I was blessed to know him personally. Just a few months ago, I had the privilege of breaking in his new baseball glove, and a couple of years before that, I built him a dirt bike. Those are memories I’ll always carry with me.
I grew up with his dad, Ryan, and went to school with his mom, Haley. My heart breaks for them and their entire family.
My wife and I don’t have children of our own, so every kid I’ve had the opportunity to help through baseball has become special to us. Losing one of those kids is heartbreaking.
Right now, this isn’t about me or a glove. It’s about a family living through every parent’s worst nightmare, a school grieving the loss of one of its students, and a community mourning a life taken far too soon.
Please join me in praying for Ryan, Haley, their family, the students, teachers, and staff of Winona Christian School, and everyone who knew and loved this young man. Pray that God gives them strength for today, peace in the days ahead, and comfort that only He can provide.
Rest easy, buddy
