Closer to home, park visitation in Dubuque County has increased 50% in just the past five years. People are hiking, paddling, camping, fishing, biking, and exploring our parks more than ever.
That's why the Dubuque County Conservation Board is updating our Comprehensive Parks, Trails, and Open Spaces Plan - and we want to hear from you.

There is potential to open up outdoor climbing in dubuque county!! Currently, climbing in any form is not allowed in any dbq county parks, and if you have ever been to whitewater, you know what a shame this is. HOWEVER the county is hosting four public input meetings to shape the future of park use over the next five years and appear to be open to the idea. If YOU want outdoor climbing to be a part of that plan, attend one, or all four, of the upcoming meetings!

This Thanksgiving, we are thankful for all of YOU! This gym is a collective effort. And our most valuable partner, is the community. Full stop.

A couple months back I emailed our subscribers to send a few words of support for to be submitted with our grant application (which we received!). And boy did you all deliver! I got a couple dozen letters in return and wanted to share a few as I am completely in awe we already have such an amazing climb-fam WITH NO PLACE TO COMMUNE! I am beyond grateful so many of you have found this little soon-to-be-gym and shown up in all the ways. You clearly understand the assignment. 💖

Huge news alert!! Our wish was grant(ed)!

If you know me personally, you know I have been DYING to firm up a timeline for opening (I never would have started social media accounts had I known it was gonna be this far out 🤪); well, I think tomrauen247 and I may finally be able to do just that! Because 980 Main St. was selected as a Main Street Iowa Challenge Grant winner by the Iowa Economic Development Authority! This grant will cover our facade work and building development and allow us to start scheduling the construction immediately. We couldn’t be happier, and we couldn’t have done it at all without the help of Dubuque Main Street to whom we are very grateful! Stay tuned for some actual project updates soon!! WEARESOEXCITED!

Hey Iowa! A couple announcements here that we’d like to get out to ya’ll:

1. We are hosting a trail day on Sunday, October 27th this year! We’ll get more info about the project as we get closer to the date but please get this in your calendar and tell all your friends!

2. Apologies for the radio silence we’ve had! Since our last big projects, we have been in the process of looking at the needs of our organization and are hoping to do some restructuring. We are going to have a discussion with everyone in the community after the trail work is over, but in general we are going to be looking for your help and input as we strive to grow and make a larger positive impact for our community! Thank you for your patience and support!
