For nearly a decade, I have been the owner of MyFitness Butler, a unique and innovative mobile personal training service in Columbus, Ohio. With a Master of Education degree and multiple certifications in CrossFit and USAW, I have the skills and knowledge to help clients of all fitness levels and backgrounds achieve their health and wellness goals. My mission is to make personal training accessibl

e, convenient, and customized for everyone, whether they prefer to work out at home, at the gym, or online. I also offer corporate coaching programs to help employees stay fit and productive. As a former teacher and coach, I have a passion for education and empowerment, and I use my experience to create engaging, effective, and fun workouts for my clients. 1.5 miles of stairs yesterday… and every step was worth it.

We climbed up and down a total of 1.5 miles of steps for a great workout and an even greater cause.

But new research suggests something surprising…

A **2025 study published in Nature Communications found that just 1 minute of intense exercise can provide similar or even greater health benefits than 53–156 minutes of light activity.

Yes… one minute.

Here’s what the researchers found:

💓 Heart Health
1 minute of vigorous exercise can equal about 8 minutes of moderate exercise or even up to 2 hours of light movement for cardiovascular benefits.

🛡️ Lower Risk of Disease
People who added short bursts of intense activity daily had significantly lower risks of cancer and cardiovascular disease mortality.

⏱️ Huge Return on Time
High-intensity bursts (like HIIT) can deliver 4–9x the health benefits per minute compared to moderate exercise.

👉 The takeaway:
You don’t always need long workouts.

Sometimes you just need short bursts of effort.

Even something simple like:
• Sprinting up stairs
• Fast cycling
• Quick bodyweight circuits
• Short hill walks

STRONG 💪 Legs = STRONG 💪 Minds...literally!

Strong legs may be linked to a lower risk of dementia. Studies suggest that leg strength, particularly the ability to generate force with the legs, is associated with better cognitive function and may be a marker for physical activity that benefits the brain. Maintaining leg strength through exercise, even simple activities like walking and taking the stairs, could be a way to protect against cognitive decline and conditions like Alzheimer’s.
