It was awesome hosting Jack Consiglio (2026 ACC Champion from Stanford at 141 lbs) for a clinic a few weeks ago! 🔥

Here’s a detailed breakdown of the 2-on-1 Knee Pull he taught our athletes:

When your opponent ties up, clear it by grabbing cross-hand to the wrist and near hand to the tricep (thumb out). Once you clear the tie in front, pull the tricep toward you while level changing and staying square.

As soon as the tie is cleared and you’re level changed, fire the shot: lead knee lands in front, then quickly exchange to post your back knee behind your opponent’s foot. While exchanging knees, move your hands at the same time — reach inside with the wrist hand toward the shoe, then wrap the near hand above the knee. Keep your head and chest up and in, lock out the knee, and prevent the sprawl.

Give this a shot in the room and let us know how it feels! 💪

🔥 What an unforgettable week at our Advanced Elementary Camp!

Huge shoutout to our incredible clinicians and coaches — Sheldon Seymour, Matty Lopes, Cael Weidemoyer, Mike Lammer, Patrick Kelly, & Cole Coffin — who poured everything into our young wrestlers and helped make this our best camp yet!

We’re so proud of every athlete who showed up, worked hard, and leveled up this week. And a massive thank you to all the parents for your dedication and support — you’re the reason our culture is so special. Without you, none of this happens.

Grateful doesn’t even begin to cover it. ❤️💪

Now loading up for next week’s Intensive Camp… only 5 spots left!

Huge thank you to our coaches and Director of Competition for an outstanding weekend at the Tyrant Bison Duals! 🙌

This weekend wouldn’t have been possible without their hard work, dedication, and investment in our athletes. They poured everything into the kids from warm-ups to bracket strategy, and it showed in the way our teams competed.

Shoutout to our coaches:
• K-4: Kyle Gentile & Bob Schwarting
• K-6: Rick Rappo & Aaron Smith
• Middle School: Mike Lammer & Hillary Snyder
• High School: John Coffin, Shane Dugan & Morris Garcia
• Girls K-12: Sam Walters & Dave Hoffman

Special recognition to our Director of Competition, Dan Lisa, who worked tirelessly behind the scenes organizing rosters, filling teams, and making sure everything ran smoothly. Dan, we couldn’t do this without you!

We entered 6 teams this weekend (K-4, K-6, MS, 2 High School, and our first-ever girls freestyle team) and they were overwhelmingly Broad Axe wrestlers.

The progress is real:
• K-6 finished 4th overall in the Gold Pool
• High School placed 5th (would’ve been even stronger with our full lineup)
• Girls team went 5-3 and took 7th in their debut

Every athlete showed heart, learned valuable lessons, and represented our club with pride. Some broke through slumps, others faced storms that will fuel future growth. Like the bison, we charge straight through.

We’re building something special here — a culture where kids want to train, compete, and grow together. None of it happens without this incredible coaching staff.

Thank you again to every coach and to Dan for making this weekend possible. We’re already looking forward to the next opportunity to compete as a club!

Proud to be Broad Axe. 💪

Technique of the Week 🔥

Underhook to High Crotch – brought to you by Sawyer Ermigiotti

Sawyer used this exact setup on his way to placing at the PIAA state tournament. Here’s how he hits it:

Start with a hard collar tie, punch in a lefty underhook, and take a big back step. As soon as your partner steps into you, rip the high crotch and finish to a double leg.

Clean, explosive, and super effective. Perfect for our kids to drill this week.

Sit the Corner Crotch Lock Counter 🤼‍♂️

Last one in our Sit the Corner counter offense series for now — a unique crotch lock variation for when your opponent hits a high crotch on you.

Start by sitting the corner and beating your opponent’s shoulder. Wrestle into the crotch lock (I like to secure my bicep deep in the hamstring before locking). Once locked, start to roll. Halfway through the roll, post your front hand on the mat to maintain height, straighten your other arm to block his leg, back-paddle your heels toward your butt, and wrestle between the legs looking to secure back points with a claw or crossface.
Our kids crush this one in competition — give it a try in the room and make it your own.

We love these kinds of creative counters at Broad Axe because they turn defense into offense and give our wrestlers options.
Hope these Sit the Corner clips help — we’ll circle back to the series again soon!

Drop a 💪 if you’re going to drill it this week.

FUNdamentals Camp Recap 🔥

What a blast this week was! Our FUNdamentals campers showed up every single day with energy, focus, and serious hard work. Watching these young wrestlers build their foundations, improve their skills, and have fun doing it was the highlight of the week. Proud of every single one of you!

A massive thank you to our incredible coaches who poured their time, energy, and expertise into every session:

• Mike Lammer
• Pat Kelly
• Sawyer Ermigiotti
• Jon Neafsey
• Sam Kuhns
• PJ Irving

Couldn’t have done it without you guys. Your dedication makes all the difference!

Grateful for another awesome camp at Broad Axe. Can’t wait to see all these wrestlers keep growing on the mats! 💪

🎮 Broad Axe Wrestling Game of the Week: Close the Circle!

The goal is simple — dig for underhooks, get double unders, and lock your hands tight around your opponent’s body. Or shoot a double leg and lock around both legs. Once your hands are locked with nothing inside, you win the round. One arm inside doesn’t count!

This game teaches them to hand fight and dig for underhooks, secure strong holds, hold position, and fight hard to keep their opponent from getting in. It’s a great way to get our wrestlers competing harder while still having fun!

We play a lot of hand fighting games, but Close the Circle is one of our favorites. Perfect for beginners and we still use it with our advanced groups too.

Wrestling is supposed to be fun — let them play! 💪

🔥 Convincing Fake to Drag off 2-on-1 🔥

Final move in Coach Jordan’s Chain Wrestling Series from the Russian 2-on-1.

Circle hip-to-hip, take a big step and reach hard for the single. When they retreat and create that big hole — pull them into the mat, transition smoothly to the drag, and go behind for the score.

Simple, convincing, and super effective.

This wraps up the series — which one was your favorite? Drop it below 👇
