Race night at Coles County Friday night.
We were able to race with our good friends Swiger Racing for their first Jr Sprint race!

Went out for hot laps and lost another engine right at the end.

Huge thanks to the Jeffery’s, Douglass’s, Swiger’s, Nana and Papaw for helping do an engine swap and make it back out for the heat race.
Heat race started 5th finished 5th
Feature started 5th and finished 5th.

Recap from last weekend:

Tanner officially graduated to blue rookie, which means he now has a faster car. He promised he would drive fast if we let him move up and boy did he ever!

Started 4th in his first heat race and made it all the way to the front. Started 1st in his second heat race and led the whole thing. Started 1st in the feature and led almost every lap of that race with some great passes back and forth with 2nd place. He ended up getting passed on the last corner coming to the checkered flag and came in a very close 2nd place.

Kyleigh started 5th in jr Honda heat and battled her way up to a 2nd place finish. This put her starting 2nd in the feature. She raced hard, but could quite catch the leader and finished 2nd in the feature.
Her jr 160 she finished 1st in both the heat and feature.

As an added bonus we were able to see some of the Terre Haute air show throughout the evening.

Night 2 of rain outs…

Terre Haute decided that it was not going to be possible to race today, so we loaded up the jr sprint to go to Coles county tonight. Right after we had everything loaded, they cancelled as well 😂. Just our luck.

Oh well though. We will try it again next week!

Saturday Raceday Recap

Saturday was points race #8 at THQMA.

Both drivers were able to carry the American flag together for opening ceremonies.

Tanner started off great winning both of his heat races! He started off well in the feature, however started battling with another driver and they both ended up spinning twice. During the race. He ended up finishing 2nd.

Kyleigh had some great races as well, winning her heat and feature in Jr 160.
In Jr Honda she went from 3rd to 2nd in the heat.
There was a tough battle between her and two other cars for the top three positions. Unfortunately she got pushed up a little too high on the track and spun out. She restarted at the tail and only had a few laps left so ended up finishing 5th.

Recap from Friday Night at Coles County

Went out for hot laps and the car was a second slower than the fastest cars. We couldn’t find an issue, so we sent the car out for the heat race.

Kyleigh started in the front row in 2nd place, and quickly dropped to the back by turn 2. She finished the first lap and said she heard a pop and the the car died. Unfortunately the engine had locked up.

We had 4 races until we were up again. It was a full team effort but we were able to switch the engine out and get out there for the feature.

She started 8th in the feature and finished 6th.

Tanner was content hanging out with his buddy Blake all evening.

Race recap from last weekend.

Stop number 3 for the Midwest Lightening Regional Series.

It was a wet Saturday with a long rain delay. The track had a ton of “character”, but the kids dealt with it the best they could!

Tanner struggled with the rough track in the heat, but went out and won the feature!

Kyleigh was able to bring home 3rd in jr 160, 11 in jr Honda, and 7th in jr animal. We’ve struggled with the animal engine for a few weeks, so it is now at the builder getting checked over to see what the issue is.

Overall it was a great weekend spent with friends and family!

We are loading up now to head to Coles County Speedway tonight for the next jr sprint race. Stay tuned for updates!

KKM Giveback Challenge Series Night 1 recap at Coles County Speedway

We were blessed to have some extra help in the pits last night from the Douglass family who came to cheer Kyleigh on.

Started 2nd in heat 2. She had a great start and held on to 2nd place for most of the race. Ended up finishing 3rd.

Starting 6th in the feature, Kyleigh was able to stay mid pack for a while. Toward the end of the race the car started losing speed and she wasn’t quite able to keep up. She ended up finishing 10th.

We’ve completely cleaned the car, checked and adjusted some carburetor tuning, and we are set to start night number 2 tonight. You can catch it on FloRacing at 7pm central time!

Rush County Fair race with the All Star Jr Sprint Series!

This was a 2 night series.

Night 1: we struggled with set up as the track is flat and was really wet and rough.

Qualified 5th quick, which put her starting 3rd in the heat. Finished 3rd in the heat which put her 5th in the feature. Finished 7th.

Night 2: The track was in much better condition and we were able to dial in the setup some.

Qualified 4th quick which put her in the “Dash for cash” which is an extra race where the winner gets a bonus. Started 1st in the dash and held on to 2nd out of 4. Started 2nd in the heat and finished 2nd. She was set to roll out 2nd in the feature and the rain set in ending the night. They will have a make up feature at a later date.

This was the best she’s ever ran in her jr sprint and she gained a lot of experience and confidence. She can’t wait until the next one!

Naturally Tanner made friends with a bunch of the other kids.
