Ernie Davis Award Nomination
Colleagues,
On behalf of the Thomas A. Edison Spartans football team it is my distinct honor and privilege to announce the nominee for this year's very prestigious Ernie Davis award Jace Schiller. Jace is a junior at Thomas Edison high school. He is the son of Nicole Snowburg and Chris Schiller and the younger sibling to Sydney Schiller. Jace dedicates a lot of his time to our local community by volunteering with the Challenger Little League, participating in community days with Thomas Edison high school and volunteering for the Falcons for a Cure baseball tournament. Jace is one of our leaders on the team, even as a junior. He’s almost like an extension of the coaching staff while on the field. Jace is the definition of a leader. He’s an outstanding young man and a tremendous leader on and off the field. When I asked what inspires him, he stated being from a small community but knowing the support is huge for the sports here, especially this year and I want to keep growing and I want to make a difference in how people think about Edison. His parents are a huge inspiration for his success from getting him to all the needed equipment, rides to practice and everything else playing sports entails. “I’m very thankful for everything they do for me.”
Jace’s favorite moment on the field this season was his six touchdown performance against Newfield where he was 7/14 passing for 219 yards and 3 TD’s and also added 143 yards with 11 carries and 3 more TD’s. Jace’s stats from this season were amongst the best on our team and it shows the type of leader he is. He was a WETM athlete of the week nominee for the weeks of 9/22/25 and 10/17/25. He was a section IV division 8, 8-man first team All-Star as a quarterback. He led our team in the huddle and on the field passing 109 attempts for 52 completions for 879 yards, that’s 8.06 yards per attempt. Throwing for 12 touchdowns with only three interceptions. He also added yards on the ground while having 94 rushing attempts for 856 yards, averaging 9.11 yards per carry. Also adding twelve more touchdowns on the ground. He had two receptions for 30 yards. On the defensive side of the football playing corner, he added 12 tackles. Because of this, we finished the season ranked 10th in the state in 8-man football. Jace is a three sport athlete who also excels at varsity level in both wrestling and baseball.
Jace is always early to the locker room, and once he’s prepared and ready, he’s there and offering to help any other teammate get prepared or ask the coaches if they need help with anything. He truly earned this opportunity to be nominated for this award as a junior.
Thank you,
Coach Kyle Erickson
