Drummond Island Township Golf Course is hiring multiple part-time, seasonal Clubhouse Attendants for the upcoming season.

These positions support daily golf course operations and customer service, including greeting golfers and processing check-ins, maintaining a clean and welcoming clubhouse, preparing and managing golf carts, assisting with merchandise sales, and supporting tournaments or special events. Clubhouse Attendants report to the Golf Course Superintendent and work a variety of shifts based on weather, course traffic, and scheduling needs.
This staffing structure allows for consistent coverage while offering flexible, shift-based seasonal work.

How to apply:

Applications may be picked up and completed at the Frank J. Sasso Township Hall, Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 2 PM.

Completed applications may be returned during office hours or placed in the after-hours drop box on the front porch.

Applications may also be printed from the website and returned by emailing a scanned copy or clear photo to the Township Clerk, Amanda Fairchild, at [email protected].

⛳️Our island is home to a golf course unlike any other. Drummond Island Golf Club sits beside the township airport and offers a quiet, scenic place to play a round with family and friends. One of its most memorable features is the short walk across the airport runway between holes, which adds to the character and history of this long-standing course.✈️

As we close for the season, we’d like to thank everyone who made this year at the Drummond Island Township Golf Course one to remember.

To all who played a round, joined as members (new and returning), enjoyed pickleball or tennis, or joined us for tournaments and events — thank you for being part of what makes this course so special.

Our appreciation goes to Steve Gottschling for his steady leadership in managing the course, Craig Hoffman for his beautiful work as Golf Course Superintendent, the Golf Course Committee for their dedication behind the scenes, and all of the others who contributed to a great season.

This township-owned course is a treasured community asset, open to the public and enjoyed by residents and visitors alike. We open in May and welcome golfers, pickleball players, and visitors through October each year.

Thank you for a wonderful season — we look forward to seeing you again in the spring.

Thank you, Craig, for all that you do to make our township course GREAT!

Behind this great season at the Drummond Island Township Golf Course is Craig Hoffman, and today we’re saying thank you.

As the golf season winds down, Drummond Island Township wants to take a moment to thank Craig Hoffman and feature him in our Spotlight on Township Team. Craig oversees the care and maintenance of the Drummond Island Township Golf Course, keeping it in great condition throughout the season.

Before joining the township team, Craig had already built an impressive 40-year career as a golf course superintendent, including 20 of those years at The Rock on Drummond Island. He studied Turfgrass Management at Michigan State University and has served as superintendent at Egypt Valley Country Club and the Links of Gateway near Detroit Metro Airport, bringing decades of experience and a deep understanding of what it takes to maintain a beautiful and sustainable course.

Craig has contributed to his field and community well beyond the greens. He is a past president of the Northern Michigan Turf Management Association, was appointed by the Governor and the Department of Environmental Quality to the Michigan Groundwater Advisory Council, and has served on national committees with the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America and Michigan State University’s Environmental Stewardship Program.

Locally, Craig is serving his second term on the Drummond Island Medical Center Board, has volunteered with the Drummond Island Fire Department, and coached basketball and golf at DeTour High School for 20 years.

Craig has lived in the Upper Peninsula for most of his life and came to Drummond Island in the mid-1990s to work as superintendent of Drummond Island Resort’s The Rock Golf Course. He quickly grew connected to the island and made it his permanent home. His wife, Amy, is the Human Resources Director for Carmeuse in Cedarville and also previously worked for Drummond Island Resort. Their daughter lives in Marquette. In his free time, Craig enjoys golf, boating, and spending time outdoors.

Craig’s leadership, professionalism, and care for the course help make the Drummond Island Township Golf Course a place that residents and visitors enjoy all season long.

Thank you, Craig, for your dedication to maintaining one of Drummond Island’s greatest assets and for your service across our community.

Frosty mornings have arrived on the island! ❄️

Our pro shop opens at 10 AM, and we kindly ask golfers to stay off the course until the frost has cleared to help protect the grass. Things were clear by about 10 today, but please check in or call the Pro Shop at (906) 493-5406 before heading out to play.

And don’t forget — the Drummond Island Fall Festival Golf Outing is this weekend! Call or stop by the Pro Shop to sign up and enjoy a great day on the course.

New fall hours are here at the Drummond Island Township Golf Course.

Now through September 30: open daily from 9 AM to 5 PM.

Starting October 1: open daily from 10 AM to 4 PM.

The last day of the season will be October 19, weather permitting.
