FOR CLARITY:

We’ve had numerous people reach out since the “Save Teton Rock Gym” petition was posted believing that it was organized by us, for us, or intended to support the continuation of the gym under its current leadership and operational structure.

This petition is independent of TRG and explicitly conditions preserving the lease and continuing operations in the current space on the replacement and restructuring of TRG’s current Board and leadership structure. We do not know who is organizing the petition.

We respect the community’s right to organize, advocate, and express differing views about the future of the gym. Given the confusion surrounding the petition, we simply want to encourage everyone to read it carefully and understand what it is actually proposing before signing.

We are deeply saddened and shocked by the City Council’s decision to terminate Teton Rock Gym’s lease.

Over the past several months, we worked with the Mayor and City staff, and believed we had reached a mutually workable agreement on both policy and lease language. We understood the lease coming before Council to be part of the renewal process, not a vote to terminate the gym’s 11 year tenancy.

This decision affects all of us. We want you to know that we genuinely tried to work through this process constructively and continue operating the gym for the community.

We are exploring every possible avenue to keep Teton Rock Gym alive. We’ll share more information soon as we work through the immediate operational and logistical impacts of this decision.
