Dresden High School Baseball Surge Past Middle College Varsity Bulldogs 🐾 Thanks To Big First Inning

Dresden High School Baseball scored 11 runs in the first inning, which helped them defeat Middle College Varsity Bulldogs 🐾 15-0 on Thursday. Daylan Davis doubled, scoring one run, David Odle singled, scoring two runs, an error scored two runs, Landon Carter drew a walk, scoring one run, Luke Di Pietro doubled, scoring two runs, and Odle grounded out, scoring one run.

Dresden High School Baseball added one run in the second. Dresden High School Baseball scored on a passed ball, making the score 12-0.

Dresden High School Baseball added to their early lead in the bottom of the third inning after Zane Novotny tripled to center field, and Rylan Davis singled to center field, each scoring one run.

Case Perry earned the win for Dresden High School Baseball. The pitcher gave up one hit and zero runs over three innings, striking out eight and walking none. Jordan Stevens took the loss for Middle College Varsity Bulldogs 🐾. The starter went three innings, giving up 15 runs (three earned) on nine hits, striking out six and walking seven. Rueger Hayes pitched one inning of zero-run ball for Dresden High School Baseball in relief. The reliever allowed one hit, striking out two and walking none.

Dresden High School Baseball amassed nine hits in the game. Di Pietro provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Dresden High School Baseball with two runs batted in. The center fielder went 1-for-2 on the day. Odle, Dresden High School Baseball's number seven hitter, led the team with two hits in three at-bats. Carter led Dresden High School Baseball with three walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, amassing seven walks for the game.

Alex Samuel-Bennett and Amir Cole each collected one hit for Middle College Varsity Bulldogs 🐾. Samuel-Bennett stole two bases.

After winning both the district and regional championships,
The 1987 Dresden Lions Baseball Team won the 1987 Class A state championship by defeating Memphis Skyview Academy 3 to 0 in the substate game at Dresden's Wilson Park.
Then the Lions traveled to Nashville's Greer Stadium (Then Home of the Nashville Sounds) and defeated Upperman High School in the quarter final game by the score of 3 to 1. In the Semifinal game, they defeated McKenzie High School by the score of 7 to 2. In the state championship game, they defeated University High School, Johnson City by a score of 6 to 4 claiming the first ever State Baseball State Championship by a rural West TN public school.
