Understanding how wind and thermals influence buck bedding is a critical skill for any hunter. Bucks will often bed in locations that give them a wind advantage, allowing them to detect approaching predators or hunters from downwind. Thermals, which are air currents created by changes in temperature, can make this even more complex. In the morning, air rises (updrafts), carrying scent uphill.
