Den's Data Den: Congratulations to Holy Cross, who defeated United last evening 3-0 to win their third consecutive Championship Match and their 15th lifetime...Prior to their Championship Match, Holy Cross eliminated Southside Baptist 3-1 in the first post season match last evening. A match that took 68:53 to complete. Holy Cross was led by Jeff Miller (6-11-1-18), Marissa Siok (0-1-12-13) and Eric Payne (4-8-1-13). Miller added two blocks. Holy Cross played with only six players. Southside, playing with only five players was led by Josh Fazzini (5-6-1-12) and Melissa Eddy (2-2-6-10)...United then eliminated Calvary 3-2, in a match that took 84:32 to complete. United was led by Layne Dukes (2-3-12-17), Kristen Benton (1-4-8-13) and Dillon Johnson (2-10-1-13). Logan Benton added two blocks. Calvary was led by Nate Christiansen (4-5-0-9) and Noah Christiansen (0-7-0-7) Nate and Jon Ringler added blocks...In the Championship Match, which went only 54:42 and was the shortest of the evening, Holy Cross was led by Andrew Drake (7-3-1-11) and Jen Bastianelli (0-1-5-6). Jason Haxton added a block. United was led by Parker Sard (3-8-0-11) and Layne Dukes (0-1-8-9). This was the second time Holy Cross and United had met in the 2025-26 post season. Holy Cross won a 3-1 decision in the first half playoffs. Holy Cross improves to 15-9 lifetime in Championship Match play. This was United's first ever Championship Match appearance...This match was also the 26th Championship Match to be played at Southside Baptist, the most of any facility...As of the close of the 2025-26 KCCVL season, Southside Baptist has hosted 591 regular season KCCVL matches. Lord willing, this fall should reach a milestone of 600!...A statistical note, the offensive and defensive team leaders are based on actual games played, not matches. Any forfeits are not included...Jeff Miller, appearing in all 20 of Holy Cross' games, led the league in post season scoring (10-45-5-60)...Logan Benton and Jason Haxton, led the post season recording three blocks each...Needless to say, June 15th is the latest date in the Spring any KCCSL season has ever ended...A total of 85 players appeared in the 2025-26 post season matches...A total of 2505 points were recorded in the 59 games played. An average of 42.5 per game.
