FFP or SFP? The answer depends on how you use your optic.
One of the most common questions when choosing a scope is: First Focal Plane (FFP) or Second Focal Plane (SFP)?
In an FFP scope, the reticle changes size as magnification changes, keeping holdovers consistent throughout the zoom range.
In an SFP scope, the reticle stays the same size, giving you a familiar sight picture at all magnifications.
Neither is inherently better—the right choice comes down to your shooting style, preferred distances, and personal preference.
Understanding the difference is the first step toward choosing the optic that works best for you.
