3 Equipment Mistakes You Could Be Makin

Tour pros are fitted with the absolute best clubs available. And they seldom wear out because they are replaced frequently with the latest and greatest that their club manufacturer sponsors offer. We found an interesting article in golf.com by Jonathan Wall, Andrew Tursky and Luke Kerr-Dineen explaining mistakes that recreational golfers do make that Tour Pros don’t.

1. You don’t keep your grooves and grips clean. Admit it. After a round, the clubs get thrown back in the trunk. If you treat your clubs better, maybe they will take care of you better. Check your grips to make sure they still have tread on them. If you see any shiny spots on them, that means you need new grips. For your grooves, use a wet cloth and a golf tee to remove the dirt from taking a divot.

2. You don’t pay attention to club gapping. Club gapping is where you have huge yardage gaps with the clubs in your bag. For example, if your 4 and 5 irons go the same distance, ditch the 4 iron for an extra wedge or hybrid. Fill in with the appropriate club when there are distance gaps.

3. You don’t care about grip sizes. This is important and big mistake amateurs make. You are probably playing with the grips that came with the clubs. The size of the grip affects the way you deliver the club into the ball. Tour pros take painstaking steps to ensure their grips feel exactly right. This is why working with a reputable fitter is so important. Find the right grip size for your ability and game and watch those scores go down.

Commit NOW to make a few minor changes and hopefully reap the benefits of better play. Check with our Golf Shop if you have any questions or would like further information.

We Have a Winner in Our US Women's Open Contest

Of course, we had a winner in our Women's US Open Contest, considering the winner and runner-up. In fact, we had 12 people select the winning combo of Nelly Korda and Charlie Hull. So it all came down to the tiebreaker, the winning score. It was one of the most suspenseful finishes in Women's golf in a long time. Well done, Nelly!

Congratulations to Mark Bartmann, who was the only one to select the winning score of 276 and he receives a complimentary foursome with carts for his selection.

ICYMI. Check out Scottie venting at his caddy, Ted Scott, after his tee shot on the Par 3, 17th hole, went into the water in yestreday's round 1. Thoughts?
