South Kent Sportsman's Club 3-Gun Providing details, scores, photos, and shenanigans for club level 3-gun matches held at South Kent Sportman's club in Dorr, Michigan. March through October

Heads up that there will not be a Multi-gun match on Sunday 20 September. SKSC will be hosting a USPSA sectional match that weekend, and we gave up our September slot so the club can host that massive undertaking.
Final Multi-gun for the year will be Sunday, 18 October.

After yesterday's match, someone left a box of 124 gr 9mm and two G***k mags in a bay. FYI, it's bagged and tagged and on the window sill behind the desk in the clubhouse.

Heads up to all that the final Multi-gun match of the year will be Sunday 21 Sept. No October match because one of our MD's will be sitting in a tree with a bow, and another will be mooching off relatives in Bavaria.
Pre-register on Practiscore (and then check in at the Clubhouse until 0915), or register the morning of the match in the Clubhouse.
Please see the match-info sheet on the SKSC.org webpage for additional match info.

First Multi-Gun match of the year (after the aborted March match due to weather, and no April match due to Easter), is this coming Sunday, 18 May.
Pre-register on Practiscore, or sign-up on match morning starting at 0815. Either way, come to the Clubhouse to make sure we get you into the tablet. Registration closes at 0915, and we usually go hot around 1000.

Heads up: based on conditions worse than forecast or expected (it’s now in the 30’s, raining heavily in Dorr, temps falling, and snow predicted), we are cancelling today’s match out of safety concerns. Hypothermia is a cruel mistress.
See you in May, and apologies for the late notice.

Heads up Multi-gunners: we are shooting on Sunday, 16 March.
I say again: first match of the season is 16 March.
I know the previous word was that we wouldn't start our season until April, but I recently looked at this thing that is apparently known to many as a "calendar", and noticed that our planned Sunday in April is also Easter Sunday. Who knew? It was written down there, clear as day, that 20 April is Easter. And since that's a day when even people who dig running and gunning might rather be going to church and/or taking their kids to Easter egg hunts and/or feasting (or doing all three), we're not shooting on Sunday 20 April.
So if you want to kickstart the season with pistol and rifle, or with pistol/rifle/shotgun, then come on out. Registration is up (or will be up) on Practiscore, and walk-in starts at the Clubhouse at 0815.
PS This calendar thing is impressive. I maybe should start looking at it more. So much information.

10/23/2024

This past Sunday, 20 Oct., was the final match of the 2024 season. For those who joined us at one of the last three matches, we switched our format from 3-Gun to "Multi-gun," meaning that stages are designed so that they may be shot with just pistol and rifle, or also by incorporating shotgun. We'll do the same next year (season will begin on the third Sunday in April), because the change was pretty popular.
So if you aren't set up with a shotgun you're comfortable running for competition, just come out with pistol and rifle and shoot with us. And if it fires a single projectile from the shoulder, we count it as a rifle (so you can run PCC and braced pistol as a rifle).
Thanks to all who joined us this year, and especially to those who helped with setup and, more importantly, stuck around for the labor-intensive job of tearing down and getting everything back in the barn.
See you, next year!

09/20/2024

We'll be running the match as multi-gun again, as we did last month. So stages will be designed so that shooters can run them as strictly pistol and rifle, or can incorporate shotgun depending on their stage plan. Sign-up starts at 0815 in the Clubhouse, and closes at 0915.

08/15/2024

The match this Sunday, 18 August, will be something new: we're going to design stages as multi-gun, meaning shooter's will have the option of engaging targets with platforms that include shotgun, or running stages with just rifle and pistol.
So if you don't have a shottie, or aren't comfortable running one in competition, just bring out your rifle and pistol and run those.
