Another gorgeous day, 7 high-energy players knocking it vigorously out: TJ, Kyle, Alexandra, new little guy Brayden, Jacob the speed weasel, Vinny (who's seriously checking out the Coast Guard), and Wardo. Pretty balanced teams, with a mix of short fast passes and long bombs. Catch of the day - as is often the case - was a wild sideways grab by TJ. Hoping for Tuesday 5 pm!

What an extraordinary day of disc, holy cow... we played 3 games, about 16 super athletes, originally older vs younger Game I with Mark Armstrong on the younger team suddenly turning a 4-0 loss around into a 5-4 win. Switched a few players for Game II and it was a smash-up head-to-head standoff: Jesse tearing all over covering Ward (and effectively taking him out of play), William smashing down blocks, Alleah appearing magically in the center grabbing passes, Don throwing his hat at the disc, Cole hurling bomb passes in huge arcs across the field, Eann appearing suddenly - shirt off - snatching the frisbee with his fingertips, TJ making dramatic dives into the end zone, and basically every player pushing as hard as possible into the game. I was blown away. Game III was a foray into exhaustion rife with errors and drops, particularly right on the end zone lines, and thus whole-field high speed dashes trying to cover defense. By the time we wrapped (and I can't even remember who won) I was staggering around the field, drove home, and promptly ran my car into the garage smashing off the right mirror assembly. Incredible experience! A highlight of the summer. I'll be backing off a bit over the next few weeks but yelling from thr sidelines. What a penultimate outdoor Ultimate Frisbee experience!

Terrific and wild games yesterday, planned to cancel but the rain held off and there was a solid crowd. We welcomed a new potential player, a teenager named Ahleah I think, and the little dude Dexter ran around like a tireless spider monkey. Interestingly, the 7 or so teens were pretty tired out between games while Wildman Wardo yelled them into forward movement. Sweaty and fun!

One of those absolutely perfect June days, and a 14-player turnout with the eager younger generation pounding up and down the field, where a new kid named Apollo took on the vaunted speed demon Jacob. Wild ultimate play. The disc was hot. But the highlight was Katie Armstrong's perfect catches, running, positioning, and blocks such that she was unofficially chosen MVP of the day! What a gorgeous evening, with a max of 11 players Working 5 on 6, including a random Lyon 18-yr-old from Georgia visiting family for a couple of weeks and kidnapped off the basketball courts. Alex Halverson (who turns 16 tomorrow) and her buddy Bella managed some hard core long bombs, with terrific defense by 4 spritely Dolgeville lads who seemed tireless. Owen Castor led some unexpected aggressive offensive moves. Three full games were played and this guy, Wardo, will be sleeping well tonight.

Another terrific Tuesday evening game from 5 pm - 6:30, welcoming back: Mercedes, Katie, Cole, and Don. And heartily welcoming a little dude named Quintin, his teenage brother Blake, and a cool DCS senior who's name was really unique but clearly I already forgot it. We had a dozen disc players knocking it into an intermittent wind, a lot of hurling bodies through the air, and some terrific throws and catches.
