It’s has been a quick two years since I have posted anything on Fletchers page. Fletcher is still a young man at 3 1/2 years old and has many years left to hone his craft. We have not tracked for the general public for the past two seasons. While Fletcher has been a willing team member, his incredible prey drive and my lack of experience during his early training made us an average team at best. I didn’t feel we could track for the public not being able to read Fletcher and inform the hunter what was going on. At this point Fletcher is best suited chasing Pheasants, although he would rather cut me out of the hunt altogether. I included some pictures of Fletcher to show everyone that he is doing well.
Fast forward to present day. I have re-commited myself to learning the art of tracking. I am connected to a training group and have arguably one of the best trainers in the midwest, Gary Blessing as a mentor. This past spring I attended the Missouri Blood tracking symposium and was able to learn from some of the best trackers in the country.
Most importantly Crystal and I purchased a well bred Porcelaine Hound from Sandra Hoesel in Wisconsin. A Porcelaine Hound is a rare French Scent hound that has a a great nose and can be used for tracking. Gordon has a witty sense of humor and is a great family/working dog. I started working with Gordon in November and this past weekend he passed his United Blood Trackers Level -1 test.
Gordon and I will be tracking for the public this upcoming season and look forward to meeting many awesome members of the hunting community.
In the meantime I will be posting our progress and promoting our tracking service. I would appreciate you sharing this post with fellow hunters and outdoor enthusiasts. I will be changing the name of this page to “White Dog Tracking”.
See everyone soon.
