What is happening with football on Long Island, NY?
The past decade has seen a violent ebb and flow on the LongIsland football landscape. Hofstra closed it's football program, Jack Coan and Jeremy Ruckert committed to major Division I programs, and major youth leagues disappeared or splintered off into independent
teams. A 14 year old team won the New Year's bowl in San Antonio Texas and now a Long Island 8th grader has 8 full-scholarship offers from top power 5 colleges including the Big Ten and SEC. A bunch of high school players, many more than in the past, also have offers to play in college.

Tune in this Thursday night for an informative, perhaps controversial dive into Long Island football. We will be talking with special guests Benjamin Carey, Gerald Filardi, and Al Brown. We will be taking calls during the show.

BENJAMIN J. CAREY
PRESIDENT OF LONG ISLAND ELITE FOOTBALL
Benjamin Carey is the torchbearer for youth football in Long Island. You would be hard pressed to find a kids football activity on Long Island that he is not somehow connected to. His exhaustive efforts to raise the level of football in the region and increase opportunities for young players has created an exciting new movement. Carey's programs model all the right principles, organizational policies, and safety practices, and have received many awards. In 2013 Carey's NPYFC was chosen to film an NFL USA Football Television Commercial that aired during the Super Bowl. He is also the co-founder of The Liberty Challenge, President of LIYFA, LISpartans, YFBCA, and NPYFC.

GERALD FILARDI

ALSO CO-FOUNDER OF LONG ISLAND ELITE FOOTBALL
Gerald Filardi has ignited youth football on Long Island in a major way. He is the head coach of Hills West High School, Founder of the Long Island Spartans, co-founder of The Liberty Challenge and leads the charge to raise the level of football in the region. He is a frequent speaker at local and national events, and sits on the board of numerous football organizations. Filardi was one of Penn State's all-time leading tacklers, played in the NCAA National Championship, and later played for the Pittsburgh Steelers.

AL BROWN
FORMER SYRACUSE AND PHILADELPHIA EAGLES PLAYER AND LINEBACKERS COACH AT ERASMUS HALL HS
ALSO COACHED LONG ISLAND ELITE FOOTBALL
Al Brown is another leader elevating Long Island Football. He played for Syracuse University and then for the Philadelphia Eagles. He played for and later coached the NYPD football team. He has coached the Springfield Ri**es in Queens, Baldwin Bombers, Freeport Red Ravens and Long Island Elite football. He is currently the Linebackers coach at Erasmus Hall.

Hills Youth Football and Cheerleading is a privately owned non-profit corporation. Our sports program works with youth of all socioeconomic backgrounds and skill levels across Long Island, New York who demonstrate an interest in football and cheerleading.
The organization focuses on training, support, and guidance, therefore providing the resources needed to develop skills including but not limited to physical, social and emotional growth for both individual and team success.
The program aims to teach its members grit, competitiveness, responsibility, self-discipline, hard work and sportsmanship as they proceed on their journey from adolescence to young adulthood.
The organization offers financial support and stipends for disadvantaged talented youth who would like to participate in the program.
It’s an honor to play or cheer for Hills Youth Football. The program has become synonymous with great players, excellent instruction, and winning traditions. We don’t just teach football, we are football.
Our program includes the highest safety standards, the best coaching, and the best uniforms and equipment. We also face the toughest opponents in the region. We hold our athletes to high standards.
Academics come first, teamwork is always a must and we invoke the spirit of the game for our youth football players and cheerleaders.
