The Dillwyn Truck and Tractor Pull put on a wonderful show at our new location. It was hot on and off the track! Thanks to Dragon Motorsports and Temple for bringing the sled and an action packed show. Thanks to all the fans who showed up. We do this for you all and cannot do this without you all. Thanks for being prepared no matter the weather, the sun, the lunar phase, you all just continue to be awesome.
Brian Lumpy Allen of Truck Outfitters summed up the new grounds perfectly: “Its a real nice facility. The new layout was awesome for pullers and will be even better once the grass grows in. I can see the vision.”
The track was impressive, too. There was plenty of talk in the pits about how hard the surface was biting—and that is not always something a first-time venue gets right. You could tell pullers helped design this facility. Thought went into how competitors entered the grounds, staged their vehicles, approached the track, pulled away after their runs and exited without creating unnecessary traffic. It already worked well, and the facility should only improve as the grounds become established.
10,000 Super Pro Farm
E L Harlow and Harlow Harvester delivered the longest run of the entire event, storming to a commanding 350.78-foot victory. Chad Nesselrodt and Recap This secured second at 327.86, while Todd Tanner drove Old Grandma to third with a distance of 310.26. Gerry Young completed the class at 284.55. Harlow’s winning margin was an impressive 22.92 feet.
11,000 Altered Farm
The Altered Farm class produced one of the tightest finishes of the evening. Kenny Baugher and Rippin Red claimed the victory at 326.86, edging Mark Lawson’s 326.45-foot effort by only five inches. Tommy Eppard and Snortin Horse finished third at 321.85, just ahead of Hunter Shifflett’s 321.82 aboard The Family Ho**er. Shifflett also placed fifth with Ragged But Right at 318.45. Bill Balderson and Retirement Checks followed at 310.93, Wayne Balderson and Little Tractor recorded 292.93, and Kenny Sandridge rounded out the class with Ole Herman at 196.32.
Truck Outfitters 6300 Outlaw
It was a fitting night for Brian Allen, who praised the new facility and then went out and won the class sponsored by Truck Outfitters. Allen drove Pulpwood to a powerful 336.78-foot victory, finishing more than eight feet ahead of a tightly packed battle for the remaining podium positions. Dwayne Griffith and Runnin Rampant earned second at 328.63, narrowly defeating Reed Vess and Ragin Bull Jr. at 328.11. Bill Good and VA Lightning were close behind at 327.19, while William Campbell’s Scalded Dog placed fifth overall at 325.82 in a non-points appearance. Jared Parlett, Pat Jones, Michael Conroy, James Costello and Michael Goodwin completed a competitive ten-truck field in which only 15.48 feet separated second through tenth.
8,000 Limited Light Pro Stock
Rusty Tanner and the John Deere Second Chance put together one of the night’s most dominant performances. Tanner charged down the Dillwyn track for 350.49 feet, missing the event’s overall longest distance by only 0.29 feet. Bradley Seal finished second overall at 321.30, followed by Michael Thomas at 309.37; both were listed as non-points entries. Steve Flint and Headcase received second-place championship points after recording a
distance of 75.20.
6200 National Sportsman
Michael Shifflett and Clear Cut emerged victorious from the largest class of the evening, leading an 11-truck National Sportsman field with a distance of 318.67 feet. David Whitley and Strokin kept the pressure on with a runner-up run of 316.82, finishing only 1.85 feet behind the winner. Braden Worley placed third aboard Rat Nasty at 311.67, and Phillip Simmons followed with Foolish Pleasure at 311.08. Jeremy Harlow recorded 310.26 in a non-points appearance, while Dylan Wood and Steppa Side completed the top six at 301.91. Ashley Simmons, Cooper Guiffre, Tracy Parker, Leroy Cubbage and Aaron Smothers rounded out the deep field.
Street Gas
Keith Agee was the class of the Street Gas field, taking the win with a strong 315.59-foot pass. Donnie Gormus finished second at 299.37, Michael Goodwin placed third at 277.07, and Aaron Bunch completed the class at 253.14. Agee’s winning margin was 16.22 feet.
From a hard-biting new track to several finishes decided by inches, Dillwyn’s first event at the new location gave fans and competitors plenty to be excited about. The layout already feels like it was designed by people who understand pulling, and with the first successful show now in the books, the future looks bright for truck and tractor pulling in Buckingham County.
