Demolition wrapped up a busy spring season this weekend at the Mason Dixon Cup in Hagerstown, Maryland.
What we initially thought would be a smaller tournament turned out to be one of the most competitive events we’ve attended. Our U13 bracket featured four high-level teams, including clubs that compete at some of the highest levels of youth soccer, with one team playing at the National League level.
Over the course of three tough matches, we faced elite competition every time we stepped on the field. While the results didn’t fall our way, the boys proved they belonged. They battled hard, competed with confidence, and showed they can hang with some of the best teams around.
For us, this weekend was never just about wins and losses. It was about challenging ourselves, finding out where we stand, and preparing for the next step in our development. The experience gained this weekend will only make us stronger heading into next season.
The highlight of the tournament came in our final match against Baltimore Bay SC, the top team in the bracket. We knew we were in for a war, and the boys answered the call. Despite a 4-0 loss, they fought until the final whistle, held Baltimore scoreless in the second half, created numerous scoring chances, and made them work for every minute of the game. The scoreline doesn’t fully reflect how competitive and hard-fought that match was.
We couldn’t be prouder of this group. They left everything on the field, pushed themselves against top competition, and never backed down from a challenge. That’s the kind of mentality that will continue to help this team grow.
Now it’s time to rest, recover, and get ready for what’s next. ⚽️💜
