The Black River Canyon, running from Watertown to Dexter, NY, is a rare whitewater gem…an unusual warm-water rafting mecca. Narrow canyon walls force the river through tumultuous passageways where boulders and ledges turn the fast-moving currents into exhilarating whitewater. -Adventure class III/IV rapids
-Minimum age 14 years in May & June, 13 years July-October
-Your trip includes a NYS licensed guide in every raft, use of all necessary equipment (life jacket, helmet, paddle), and an on-river snack
-Our spacious rafting center features a souvenir shop, ample free parking, changing rooms, and use of picnic tables and lawn games
What should I wear?
-Sturdy footwear, such as old sneakers, water shoes, or sport sandals with a secure heel strap (such as Chacos, Tevas, or Keens). Crocs are not recommended. Flip flops, slides, and bare feet are not permitted. Wetsuit booties are available to rent at our rafting center.
-On warm days: shorts and a t-shirt, sunglasses, and lots of sunscreen!
-On cooler days: synthetic base layers, windbreaker or rain jacket. Wetsuits may be needed in early spring and fall, and are available to rent at our rafting center. You WILL get wet, so bring a change of clothes and dry shoes. Straps are recommended if you plan to wear expensive sunglasses. Water bottles and waterproof cameras are permitted, however there is limited space in the raft so please leave other extras behind. Medically needed items will be accommodated. BRAND NEW for 2022 season: Lazy River Tubing! Our "Tube Taxi" will shuttle you upstream, then enjoy a relaxing float down the beautiful rock-walled Black River Canyon. This is a self-guided adventure for ages 7+.
