THE GREAT RAY LANE HAS PASSED
Never met the man, but I knew the man, because he was another one of those broadcassters, who are part of the soundtrack of your life. Ray was on TV2 was I was a kid, and would ofter had to be tortured by doing those sorry 1970's DETROIT LIONS EXHIBITION GAMES! It was later, I found out he was of the TIGERS BROADCASTING CREW, worked with ERNIE, AND WAS A MAJOR PART OF THE 1968 DETROIT TIGERS CHAMPIONSHIP! Then I remember him moving over to WKBD CHANNEL 50, and doing some of first MICHIGAN AND MSU FOOTBALL GAMES ON LOCAL CABLE CALLED ON! And then he found a second home, DOING RED WINGS GAMES, and I truly found out how good RAY WAS! From what I could tell, guys like RAY LANE could broadcast anything and make it seem entertaining! And I can still remembering his FACEBOOK PHOTO popping up, just a few months ago, so he tried to keep in touch.
RAY LANE, ANOTHER DETROIT BROADCAST LEGEND, WHO GETS TO GO AND BROADCAST ONCE AGAIN, FROM THE BOOTHS OF TIGER STADIUM, AND ENJOY SOME LIONS FOOTBALL, AND TIGER BASEBALL!
