Prep Kickoff Classic The Michigan High School Football Season Starts Here.

The Xenith Prep Kickoff Classic is the premier season-opening high school football event in Michigan organized by the Detroit Sports Commission and hosted at Wayne State University. Founded in 2005, the PKC was created to provide a unique and memorable experience for players, coaches, fans, cheerleaders, and band members.

A huge THANK YOU to all of our Amazon Prep Kickoff Classic partners for helping us bring three days of high school football, competition and unforgettable moments to Detroit.

From game ball deliveries and giveaways to player awards, postgame fuel, recovery drinks and everything in between — you helped make it all happen.

Join us for the final day of the 2026 Amazon Prep Kickoff Classic kicking off the high school football season in the region.

🏈4 p.m. – Birmingham Groves vs. North Farmington
🏈7 p.m. – Detroit Cass Tech vs. Michigan City

In the second matchup of the 2026 Amazon Prep Kickoff Classic, DeWitt claims a 59-21 victory over Kenowa Hills.

The Girls Flag Football Showcase was more than just games, before the matchups, we welcomed local middle school girls to participate in a girls flag football youth clinic!

Along with the teams from the showcase, participants got to meet and listen to guest speaker Vanita Krouch , the Tom Brady of Flag Football and former QB for USA Flag Football.

After, the Detroit Lions and Detroit PAL led each girl through drills, with the high school teams and Vanita getting involved.

Thank you to Vanita, the Detroit Lions Football Education , Detroit PAL , and our high school participants for leading this event!

We officially kicked off the 2026 High School football season with our Girls Flag Football Showcase. 🏈

The showcase featured two amazing matchups!

In the first match up, the defending Michigan High School Girls Flag Football League State Champions, St. Joseph defeated L’Anse Creuse North in a 20-7 win.

In the second matchup, Gibraltar Carlson claimed a 26-0 victory over Redford Thurston!
