⛵️📚 One last send before school starts!

The 2nd Annual Back to School Optimist Invitational is in the books!

18 sailors showed up for one final day of summer racing, and Mother Nature understood the assignment: sunshine and a steady 12 knot southwest breeze. ☀️💨👌

We even had a couple of questionable entries sneak onto boats….😂

Oliver Baer dusted off his Opti skills despite being just a few years over the age limit, and coach Donna Mazzucchelli jumped in for a race to remind everyone that she’s still got it. Apparently age limits are more like guidelines around here. 😎⛵️

Great racing, great weather, and a perfect way to squeeze every last drop out of summer before it’s back to alarm clocks, homework, and pretending you remember how to do math. 📚✏️

Thanks to all 18 sailors and everyone who helped make it such a fun day.

Another incredible day on the water. ⛵️

The fleet put on a great show with close racing, steady breeze, and plenty of action from above. Thanks to all of the sailors, coaches, race committee, volunteers, and families who made today’s regatta a success.

⛵ Tomorrow’s the day!

The BYC Junior Regatta begins tomorrow at Bayview Yacht Club, where we’ll welcome more than 120 junior sailors for two days of racing on the Detroit River!

Come down to the front lawn, watch the action on the water, and cheer on the next generation of sailors. Our Team Bayview athletes have been training hard all summer, and they’re ready to compete!

Friday – Regatta Finale
🎶 Live music on the lawn
🌮 Taco bar for competitors
🍦 Ice cream treats
🍽️ Bayview’s bar & restaurant will be open for parents and spectators.
🏆 Great racing, great friends, and a fantastic summer tradition.

Today I had a dive to find this engine cowling at Bayview Yacht Club for their Junior Sailors program. It blew off one of their motorboats on one of the very windy days we’ve had, and fortunately it didn’t go far. The kids were just finishing up for the day, it looks like a fun program!
