Packing up from our final summer marketplace day was bittersweet.

This summer, I watched young people learn by doing every Thursday from June - August.

They were not just completing assignments - they were setting up tables, talking to customers, learning sales, observing business, building confidence, and seeing entrepreneurship up close.

Our Fall 2025 DESC CHAFEE Interns, 2026 GDYT Summer Interns, and MRS Interns all became part of something bigger than a summer work experience.

They helped bring MicroWorksStudio to life at the Downtown Cadillac Square Marketplace.

To every student who showed up, every customer who stopped by, every person who supported us, and everyone who watched our journey unfold - thank you.

This was a successful summer marketplace season, but more importantly, it was a season of growth, learning, leadership, and community.

I am grateful. I am proud. And I am excited for what comes next.

Spotlight on Yasmin!

One of our most beautiful, energetic, and gifted young entrepreneurs truly shined!

A huge thank you to Yasmin for representing MicroWorks Employment and Training Services, Inc. and MicroWorks Studio at the MASH Market Detroit on Detroit's East side.

This was our very first time participating in this community marketplace, and from the moment Yasmin arrived, she took charge with confidence, professionalism, and a smile. She wasn't intimidated at all, she naturally connected with visitors, represented our brand beautifully, and showed everyone exactly what young talent in Detroit looks like.

The MASH Market, hosted in partnership with the East Side Community Network, is dedicated to promoting local businesses throughout Detroit's East side by bringing together entrepreneurs, local services, wellness businesses, food vendors, and families from the community.

It was held on July 25 at 14711 Mack Avenue, and we were honored to be invited to participate.

Since Yasmin lives on Detroit's East side, it was especially meaningful to have her represent our team in her own community. She did an outstanding job, and I couldn't be more proud of her.

Yasmin is one of the amazing young entrepreneurs participating in our 2026 Grow Detroit's Young Talent (GDYT) six-week entrepreneurship and business development program through MicroWorks Employment and Training Services, Inc.

Watching her confidence, leadership, and entrepreneurial spirit continue to grow has been an absolute joy. She is a natural, and I have no doubt she has an incredibly bright future ahead.

At MicroWorks, we're honored to work with 55 talented young people, ages 16 and 24, this summer, helping them develop workplace skills, entrepreneurship, leadership, customer service, and confidence that will serve them for years to come.

Yasmin, you represented yourself and your community well, and you absolutely earned the spotlight. We are incredibly proud of you and can't wait to see all that you'll accomplish next.

A beautiful evening celebrating powerful work and purpose.

Congratulations to Elaina on a successful graduate research dissemination event. Her work reflects years of thought, care, research, and commitment to young people who have experienced transitions without choice, moving from familiar people, places, and surroundings into spaces that can feel uncertain and unknown.

Over the last 3 years, Elaina has explored a trauma informed way to reimagine that experience through intentional, therapeutic getaways co-designed with young adults and teens in care.

Her research speaks to the importance of giving young people voice, choice, connection, and a sense of belonging.

Veronique also represented her company, Create and Heal (www.createandhealtoday.com), along with MicroWorks, during such a meaningful evening.

A special thank you to the Park West Foundation for the important work they continue to do and for supporting Elaina's successful research dissemination event.
