You’ve probably seen yellow school buses your entire life—but why yellow?

The answer goes back to the 1930s, when Frank W. Cyr traveled across America and discovered a school transportation system with wildly inconsistent designs, colors, and safety standards. His effort to change that helped create one of the most recognizable vehicles on the road today.

A lightning strike can disrupt far more than just your skin.

It can affect the heart, breathing, brain, nerves, hearing, and vision—and you don’t even have to be hit directly to be injured.

Some current can travel over the outside of the body in a flashover, lightning can travel through the ground or nearby objects, and surprisingly, most people who are struck survive.

And despite the myth, lightning victims do NOT remain electrically charged afterward.

After a powerful tornado, the damage can look almost impossible.

One house may be completely destroyed while another only yards away is still standing.

The reason isn’t that the tornado simply “skipped” one house. Wind speeds can vary dramatically across the circulation, smaller vortices can create intense pockets of damage, flying debris can weaken structures, and differences in construction can completely change the outcome.

Sometimes just a few yards can mean experiencing very different forces from the same tornado.

Julius Caesar crossed the Rubicon in 49 BC and plunged Rome into civil war.

But defeating Pompey the Great was far from easy. Caesar first eliminated Pompey’s forces in Spain, then risked a dangerous winter crossing of the Adriatic, suffered a major defeat at Dyrrachium, and finally faced Pompey again at Pharsalus.

There, Caesar anticipated Pompey’s cavalry strategy, used his veteran infantry to counter it, and turned the battle in his favor.

Caesar didn’t win because every plan worked.

He won because when things went wrong, he adapted faster than his enemies.

On March 15th, 44 BC—the Ides of March—Julius Caesar walked into a meeting of the Roman Senate and never walked out.

His growing power terrified senators who believed they were saving the Roman Republic by killing him. But their plan backfired spectacularly, plunging Rome into more civil wars and helping pave the way for its first emperor.

Why did killing Caesar help destroy the very Republic they were trying to save? Watch and find out.

A single river changed the course of history.

In January 49 BC, Julius Caesar faced an impossible choice. Obey the Roman Senate and lose everything he had built... or cross the Rubicon with his army and become an enemy of Rome.

His decision sparked a civil war, ended the Roman Republic, and helped shape the future of the Roman Empire.
