The Gold Cup Finals are coming to Desoto BMX, and we need a BIG team of volunteers to help make this event a success! 🙌🏁

Common questions regarding the upcoming Gold Cup Finals

Q: Can I race in the finals if I didn’t do the qualifiers?
A: Yes EVERYONE is eligible to race. The ONLY “invitation only” race sanctioned by USABMX is the Race of Champions (ROC).

Q: Do I have to race all three days?
A: Race one, two, or all three days. The choice is yours. However, if you raced two qualifiers and want to earn a Gold Cup plate you MUST race both Saturday and Sunday. In the event of a tie in points at the conclusion, the rider with the better finish on Sunday will be awarded the higher overall place.

Q: Are transponders required?
A: No but the track will be offering timing for a fee to anyone with a transponder. The track also has transponders for $60/ea.

Q: Where do I register for the Gold Cup Finals?
A: www.usabmx.com or in person at their trailer on Thursday or Friday of the event. There is a discount if you register no later than 8 days prior to the races.

Q: Will there be practice on Thursday, September 24th?
A: There will be two practice sessions: 11-3 & 5-9. Each session will be $15 and is open to everyone that registered for that session. If demand dictates, we will switch to age group practice: 12 & under, 13 & over. The length of each group’s practice will be determined at the time the switch is made.

Q: Can I presign for Thursday’s practice?
A: We plan on having presigns for practice and timing available no later than September 22nd.

Q: Will there be practice on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday? From Friday on we will follow the schedule published by USABMX with practice on Friday and Saturday but not on Sunday.

Q: I’m bringing a cargo trailer. Where do I park?
A: The grassy overflow North lot backed up to Centre Park Blvd to ensure you can exit.

Q: Which lane should I take into the parking lot?
A: Those that presigned for parking and vehicles with cargo trailers should take the left lane into the parking lot. Those that presign for parking can pickup their parking pass from the Desoto registration building on Thursday or at the parking lot entrance on Friday.

Q: I’m bringing my RV or I paid for VIP parking. What entrance should I take?
A: RV and VIP parking will ONLY be accessible from Wintergreen Rd.

Q: What about pit space?
A: First come, first served starting at 5pm on Thursday. Please be courteous to others and only take the space you need and be mindful. Very few parking spaces will accommodate pitting with your vehicle so do NOT plan on pitting in the parking lots.

Q: Is your facility handicap accessible?
A: We have 8 designated ADA parking spots and will be marking off 6 more. In addition, there is a handicap ramp at the east end of each bleacher and our bathrooms are handicap accessible. There are also various “cutouts” in the bleachers for spectators with mobility issues.

Q: What else should I know?
A: Side plates are advisable. If a rider does not have a side plate and there’s a questionable finish, that rider will NOT be able to request a video review. In addition, state plates are NOT permitted for the Gold Cup Finals. Lastly, it is highly advisable to presign for parking, practice, and timing to avoid standing in line.

Track grooming and prep will be done on Saturday following our races. If you know how to use a shovel or rake, you're well suited for this volunteer opportunity.

We will be closed on Sunday to finish our track prep, stripe the track, pickup trash, clean bathrooms, etc. All help is welcome. We will begin at 10am.

Do you know how to park a car? Have you ever thought to yourself, "Where did that person learn to park?" If so, we have the perfect volunteer opportunity for you. We are looking for volunteers to help ensure parking for the Gold Cup Finals is done smoothly and efficiently. Parking lots will open at noon on Friday and 7am on Saturday/Sunday. We're not asking you to do the full day; just help carry the load.

Trophies arrived today!!!! We will gladly still swap ONLY 1st PLACE Desoto trophies through September 19th: 3 for a race, 2 for a practice. Must be in good condition.
