We’re still smiling after Dancing in the Park! 💃🕺❤️

What an incredible evening! Seeing so many of our students, friends, families, and members of the Des Moines community come together at Water Works Park to DANCE was something truly special.

From dancing under the summer sky to incredible live music from the Gaylin Sudik Big Band, performances from our dancers, and a dance floor full of familiar AND new faces—we couldn’t have asked for a better night!

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who joined us, our amazing instructors and performers, the Gaylin Sudik Big Band, and everyone behind the scenes who helped bring Dancing in the Park to life.

One of our favorite things about dance is the community it creates, and this night was such a great reminder of just how special our dance community is. ❤️

Dancing in the Park is almost here! 💃🕺
Here’s everything you need to know before you go!

📅 WHEN
Friday, August 28
6:00–9:30 PM
✨ FREE & open to the public!

📍 WHERE
Lauridsen Amphitheater at Water Works Park
2201 George Flagg Parkway, Des Moines

🚗 PARKING
Free parking is available throughout Water Works Park. Follow event signage when you arrive. ADA parking is available directly south of the amphitheater. We recommend arriving early—the FREE dance lesson starts at 6:00 PM!

🍔 FOOD + DRINKS
Come hungry! Food trucks will be on-site, and the Des Moines Biergarten will be open for food & beverage purchases.

🪑 WHAT TO BRING
Bring a lawn chair or blanket to relax and enjoy the music and performances between dances!

👟 WHAT TO WEAR
Come comfortable and ready to dance! We’ll be dancing on concrete, so wear shoes you can move in—this is a great night to break out those Fuegos! 😉 And if you have DSMB swag, wear it!

You don’t need any dance experience to take First Dance lessons. Whether you’ve been dancing for years or your very first lesson with us is the first time you’ve ever danced together, we’ll meet you right where you are.

Our goal is to help you feel comfortable dancing together, build your confidence, and give you the skills to enjoy your First Dance instead of worrying about what to do when the music starts. ❤️

Because your First Dance doesn’t have to be perfect—it should feel like you.
