Day five of National Volunteer Week is our 4-H Event Champion Award. This award recognizes a volunteer who plays a key role in making 4-H events successful and ensures that youth have positive, engaging experiences every time they participate.

This year’s recipient is Mary Fay from Chittenden County. Mary has been involved in 4-H for an incredible 55 years, and throughout that time she has been a constant, trusted presence and someone who always steps in to help and support both youth and fellow volunteers.

She brings a level of care and reliability that really helps events run smoothly. In her role as the State 4-H Horse Middle Manager, she’s helped shape high-quality experiences for youth across the state, and at the same time, she’s continued to lead a local club and stay closely connected to young people in her community.

Whether she’s working behind the scenes or supporting programming directly, Mary is simply someone you can always count on. She truly embodies what it means to be an Event Champion. Congratulations Mary! Thank you for making a difference! UVM Extension UVM CALS Chittenden County 4-H Program

Today one of our seniors attended the Vermont State hippology competition. She placed first and earned a spot on the state team for Kentucky in the fall! Awesome job Carlie!! 🥳

This past weekend we attended the Northeast Regional Communications day and I am so proud of this group of kids! We had kids in almost every category! Posters, photography, table top, action exhibits, team demo, and even public speaking! I can’t wait to see what the rest of this year bring for us!

What a great December meeting for the Kingdom Hoofbeats 4-H club. Members were busy today gaining horse knowledge, decorating and eating cookies and making their snowman craft. Thanks to Nick Daigle for preparing the boards for the snowmen, they came out great!

We are excited to have our second meeting of the year! It will be on 12/21/25 at 1:30 in Derby Line. We still have space for new members of any age (5-18). We are an equine-based club but would welcome anybody interested in anything else. Come join us for some snacks, a craft, and a little bit of knowledge!
