It’s kinda chic to train the mental side of your game.

It’s not just a trend, it’s a whole part of your performance that’s talked about often but not always trained.

Mental performance training is what helps you clutch up in those high pressure moments. If you don’t train for it, how can you expect yourself to execute when the time comes?

There’s so much to mental performance that can help you grow and succeed. It’s up to you if you’re ready to train the mental side of your game.

What does mental toughness ACTUALLY mean?

🧠Mental toughness is having the COURAGE to be VULNERABLE.

What does that look like?
✅Responding well after errors/mistakes
✅Having tough conversations
✅Asking for help

Choose to be courageous.

Your performance doesn’t determine your worth.

It’s easy to forget this. You put in so much time and energy into performing at a high level that it feels like WHO you are. When this happens we begin to tie our self-worth to our performance.

So this is your reminder that your performance doesn’t determine your worth.

How do you know when you’re prepared?

Being prepared isn’t about your ability to predict scenarios; it’s about your adaptability and resiliency in the moment to keep performing at your best.

Here’s how we break it down into 4 pillars:
1. Mental & Emotional: develop your mental skills of composure, situational awareness and adaptability. This will allow you to make clear decisions.
2. Physical Material: tangible tools and resources. Making sure you have the correct training equipment and gear.
3. Practical: systems and plans that you create for obstacles. Help develop effective responses to rely on in the moment.
4. Skill based: your physical abilities. Learn new skills and develop your abilities through instruction at practices instead of in the moment during high pressure performances.

These pillars set you up for success because they build a strong foundation of preparation to be successful every time.

Working on these pillars builds your resiliency and adaptability so that you can manage stress and make clear decisions in the moment even when circumstances shift.

Are you setting your self up for success??

👉🏻Identify your WHY.

Hey athletes, how do you manage your energy while performing?

Need a few quick tips to stay composed when you’re playing to avoid reacting in an unproductively?

Here’s a few quick tips 💡👇
1. Recognize what is in your control. Focusing on factors outside of your control takes away from your ability to perform and execute at a high level.
2. Feel your feelings. Ignoring or trying to stop your thoughts and emotions won’t help in the long term. Understanding them is going to help you respond in a way that improves your performance.
3. Ground yourself. Slow it down. Take a few deep breaths, splash cold water on your face, find ways to slow down your nervous system; it’ll help you think before you respond.
4. Space out feeling your feelings and responding! Feel your emotions and ground yourself, do what helps you feel fresh and ready to make a decision. You’d rather respond with a fresh mindset than regret an instantaneous reaction that hinders your performance.

Regulating your emotions to maintain your composure, doesn’t always mean your calm. It means that you’re feelings the emotions that come up while playing (bad ref calls, scoring, a loud crowd, an important performance, etc). Those emotions are signs of how you feel and can help you perform better!

Build that awareness and you’ll improve your ability to maintain composure in big and small moments.
