π PTSD Awareness Month Post
June is PTSD Awareness Month.
Not all wounds are visible.
PTSD can affect veterans, survivors of abuse, first responders, healthcare workers, accident survivors, those living with chronic illness, and anyone who has experienced trauma. It can show up as anxiety, hypervigilance, sleep disturbances, emotional numbness, flashbacks, difficulty concentrating, and feeling disconnected from yourself or others.
Healing doesn't always look like talking about what happened. Sometimes healing looks like: πΏ Taking a walk in nature
π§ Moving your body gently through yoga
π Receiving safe, trauma-informed touch
π Learning to reconnect with your breath
β Sitting quietly with a cup of tea
π€ Finding a space where you feel seen, heard, and supported
This month, let's remember that healing is not about "getting over it." It's about learning to live with compassion for yourself while rebuilding a sense of safety, connection, and trust in your body.
If you are navigating the effects of trauma, know that your experiences are valid, your healing journey is your own, and you deserve support.
