The Zombies sweep the weekend, outscoring the Bulldogs and Ghostrunners by a combined 36-9. Saturday, we saw an 80-pitch complete game thrown by Colin Van Kampen. Jay Nels got the W on Sunday, throwing 4 innings, allowing 4 ER. Erik James gets the 3-inning save. Plenty of offense all weekend with the Zombies racking up 39 hits, 9 of which were extra-base hits.
Next up - the regular season finale against the .500 Predators.
Props to the Brighton H.S. coach - he was there bright and early watering and dragging the infield dirt, mowing the infield grass, fresh foul lines...

Zombies Claw Back, But Fall Just Short Against Night Train

The Zombies's effort to come back from down eight runs in the sixth inning came up just short, as they fell 14-12 to Night Train on Sunday. The Zombies closed the gap by scoring on a double, and 4 singles.

Despite the loss, the Zombies did collect 10 hits in the high-scoring affair. Unfortunately, Night Rider had 11 hits on the way to victory.

Night Ranger got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Kris Hernandez singled to left field, and Jon Barrow hit a sacrifice fly, each scoring one run.

Night Moves added to their early lead in the bottom of the second inning after Shane Jones singled to center field, Keith Jepsen was struck by a pitch, Ben McLagan grounded out, and Kris Hernandez walked, each scoring one run.

The Zombies scored five runs on one hit in the top of the third inning. An error scored one run, Brian Grom drew a walk, scoring one run, Mike Merfeld drew a walk, scoring one run, and Anthony Pratt singled, scoring two runs.

Night Emissions scored five runs on three hits in the bottom of the sixth inning. Kyle Paulson singled, scoring one run, an error scored one run, and Kris Hernandez doubled, scoring three runs.

The Zombies scored seven runs on eight hits in the top of the seventh inning. Matt Bryant doubled, scoring two runs, Justin Lindell singled, scoring one run, Mike Pelzl singled, scoring one run, Brian Grom singled, scoring one run, and Anthony Pratt singled, scoring two runs.

Jacy Erling earned the win for Night Light. The hurler allowed seven hits and seven runs (six earned) over three and two-thirds innings, striking out none and walking one. Colin Van Kampen took the loss for Zombies. He went six innings, giving up 13 runs (one earned) on 11 hits, striking out one and walking four. Ben McLagan opened the game for Night Shade. The starting pitcher gave up one hit and zero runs over two innings, striking out three and walking two.

Zombies piled up 10 hits in the game. Anthony Pratt led Zombies with four runs batted in from the number eight spot in the lineup. The first baseman went 2-for-4 on the day. Anthony Pratt and Justin Lindell each collected two hits for Zombies. Rome Revis led Zombies with three walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, tallying eight walks for the game.

Night Stalker accumulated 11 hits in the game. Kris Hernandez provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led with six runs batted in. The 3-hole hitter went 3-for-3 on the day. Taylor Redman and Chris Dennis each collected multiple hits for 35 Night Light.

The umpire ejected someone from the Zombies at the end of the game, but he wasn't quite sure who.

Next up for Zombies is a game against Yetis on Sunday.

Justin Lindell drove in five runs on five hits to lead the Zombies past Loc Nar 19-18 on Sunday. Justin Lindell doubled in the fifth scoring three, doubled in the fourth scoring two, doubled in the first scoring one, and tripled in the third scoring one.

The Zombies collected 24 hits and Loc Nar had 19 in the high-scoring affair.

The Zombies got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Justin Lindell doubled, scoring one run, Mike Fay singled, scoring two runs, and Raul Fonda singled, scoring one run.

The Zombies added to their early lead in the bottom of the second inning after Mike Pelzl singled to left field, and Raul Fonda grounded into a fielder's choice, each scoring one run.

A double by Matt Bryant, a triple by Justin Lindell, and a sacrifice fly by Mike Fay helped the Zombies extend their early lead in the third.

The Zombies scored five runs on seven hits in the bottom of the fourth inning. Cesare Merriman singled, scoring two runs, Matt Bryant singled, scoring one run, and Justin Lindell doubled, scoring two runs.

After smoking a bunch of w**d in their dugout, Loc Nar scored six runs on five hits in the top of the fifth inning. Robert Liechty singled, scoring two runs, an error scored two runs, and Mark Ertel singled, scoring two runs.

Jon Nelsen earned the win for Zombies. The starting pitcher gave up 15 hits and 14 runs (eight earned) over six innings, striking out three and walking none. Will Blonna took the loss for Loc Nar. The hurler went four and two-thirds innings, giving up 18 runs (17 earned) on 22 hits, striking out one and walking five. Colin Van Kampen collected the save.

The Zombies amassed 24 hits in the game. Mike Pelzl, Erik James, Raul Fonda, Mike Fay, Rome Revis, and Matt Bryant each collected multiple hits for the Zombies. Matt Bryant led with two walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, collecting six walks for the game.

Loc Nar piled up 19 hits in the game. Maize led Loc Nar with four hits in six at bats. Mark Ertel, Robert Liechty, and Robert Berry each drove in three runs for Loc Nar. Will Blonna, Gavin Inglis, and Mike Delodovico each collected multiple hits for Loc Nar. Loc Nar didn't commit a single error in the field. Will Blonna had the most chances in the field with five.

Lindell’s Big Day Propels Zombies Past Ghostrunners

Justin Lindell drove in four runs on two hits to lead the Zombies past the Ghostrunners 15-5 on Sunday. Lindell doubled in the first inning, scoring two runs, and doubled in the second inning, scoring another two.

Zombies added to their early lead in the bottom of the second inning when Jerome Revis singled, scoring one run, and Justin Lindell doubled, scoring two runs.

Colin Van Kampen earned the win for the Zombies. The starter allowed three hits and zero runs over three innings, striking out two and walking one. Andrew Mcintyre took the loss for the Ghostrunners. The hurler went three innings, surrendering six runs on seven hits, striking out two and walking three. Cesare Merriman and Luke Wiegand each appeared in relief for the Zombies.

The Zombies amassed 17 hits in the game. Anthony Pratt and Rome Revis each collected three hits, with Colin Van Kampen , Cesare Merriman , and Matt Bryant each collecting multiple hits for the Zombies. Defensively, the Zombies turned one double play in the game.

Cesare Merriman played all defensive positions for the Zombies in the shortened game.

The Ghostrunners collected 11 hits in the game. JT Sayre went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead the Ghostrunners in hits. Kyle Burg collected two hits in three at bats.

Zombies Win Back-And-Forth Affair Against Reds

The Zombies and Reds traded the lead back-and-forth on Sunday, but eventually the Zombies prevailed 9-6. The game was tied at six in the bottom of the eighth when Justin Lindell hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run.

A single by Jason Taylor on the sixth pitch of the at-bat put the Reds on the board in the top of the first.

The Zombies captured the lead, 2-1, in the bottom of the first after Matt Bryant hit a sacrifice fly scoring one run, and the Reds committed an error, scoring one more.

Brandon Wartella singled down the left field line, which helped the Reds tie the game at two in the top of the second.

A single by Mike Verro gave the Reds the lead, 3-2, in the top of the fourth.

Mike Pelzl singled to center field, which helped the Zombies tie the game at three in the bottom of the fourth.

The Zombies took the lead, 5-3, in the bottom of the sixth thanks to home runs by Matt Bryant and Justin Lindell.

The Reds jumped back into the lead in the top of the seventh inning after Brandon Wartella walked, Brendan White grounded into a fielder's choice, and Derek Bammel singled to right field, each scoring one run.

The Zombies jumped back into the lead in the bottom of the eighth inning after Matt Bryant singled down the right field line, Justin Lindell hit a sacrifice fly, Mike Merfeld was struck by a pitch, and Brian Grom grounded into a fielder's choice, each scoring one run.

Colin Van Kampen earned the win for the Zombies. The hurler surrendered one hit and zero runs over two and two-thirds innings of relief, striking out one and walking none. Jason Taylor took the loss for the Reds. The pitcher went seven innings, allowing eight runs (six earned) on 14 hits, striking out four and walking one. Luke Wiegand opened the game for the Zombies. The starter surrendered 10 hits and six runs over six and one-third innings, striking out three and walking two.

The Zombies collected 14 hits in the game. Matt Bryant drove the middle of the lineup, leading the Zombies with three runs batted in. The number three hitter went 2-for-3 on the day. Lindell Leads Zombies Past Night Train

Justin Lindell collected four hits in five at bats, as the Zombies defeated Night Rider 11-1 on Sunday. Justin Lindell singled in the first inning, the fifth inning, the seventh inning, and in the eigth inning.

A single by Mike Merfeld on an 0-2 count initially put the Zombies on the board in the bottom of the first. The Zombies added one run in the third after Matt Bryant doubled to center field.

Luke Wiegand earned the win in his first career game for the Zombies. The pitcher gave up three hits and one run (zero earned) over eight innings, striking out seven and walking two. Jacy Erling took the loss for Night Moves. The pitcher went five innings, allowing three runs on 10 hits, striking out three and walking three.

The Zombies accumulated 15 hits in the game. Mike Merfeld went 2-for-2 at the plate and led the team with two runs batted in. Mike Pelzl and Matt Bryant each collected multiple hits for the Zombies. Mike Merfeld paced Zombies with three walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, tallying eight walks for the game. The Zombies didn't commit a single error in the field. Mike Pelzl had the most chances in the field with nine.

Jon Perrot, Chad Alevras, and Shane Jones each collected one hit for Night Ranger. They turned one double play in the game.

Zombies Rally Late to Opening Day Victory

Justin Lindell collected three hits in six at
bats, as the Zombies defeated Loc Nar 14-8 on
Sunday. Justin Lindell singled in the first inning, the sixth inning and eighth
inning.

Both offenses were strong at the plate as the
Zombies collected 18 hits and Loc Nar 12
in the high-scoring affair.

Loc Nar jumped out to the lead in the
bottom of the first inning after Scotten
doubled, scoring two runs, and an error
allowing an additional run.

Loc Nar tied the game up at five in the bottom of the fifth thanks to two more errors.

A sacrifice fly by Mike Fay gave Zombies
the lead, 6-5, in the top of the sixth.

Loc Nar took the lead in the bottom of the
sixth inning after Berry singled to center
field, Scotten singled down the left field
line, and Panella stole home, each scoring
one run.

Mike Pelzl singled to center field, which
helped the Zombies tie the game at eight in the
top of the seventh.

The Zombies jumped back into the lead in the
top of the eighth inning after Raul Fonda
singled to center field, Jon Nelsen
grounded into a fielder's choice, Rome
Revis singled down the left field line, Cesare
Merriman singled to right field, and Justin
Lindell singled to center field, each scoring
one run.

Colin Van Kampen earned the win for the
Zombies. The starter gave up 12 hits and
eight runs (three earned) over eight innings,
striking out three and walking none. Dye
took the loss for Loc Nar. The reliever went
one inning, allowing six runs (five earned)
on four hits, striking out none and walking,
three. Blonna stepped on the hill first for
Loc Nar. The hurler surrendered 10 hits and
five runs (two earned) over four innings,
striking out six and walking two.

The Zombies tallied 18 hits in the game.
Raul Fonda, the number seven hitter, led the Zombies with five hits in five at
bats. Mike PelzI went 2-for-6 at the plate
and led the team with three runs batted in.
Rome Revis, Cesare Merriman, Brian
Grom, and Justin Lindell each collected
multiple hits for the Zombies. Cesare
Merriman paced the Zombies with two walks.
Overall, the team had patience at the plate,
amassing seven walks for the game. Brian
Grom stole two bases with the Zombies stealing four bases in total. The Zombies turned one double play in the game, 6-4-3.

Player of the Game goes to Jon Nelson for his return to the Zombies after suffering a season-ending injury last Spring.

The Zombies fall to the Grizzlies in their final game 15-11.

The Zombies could not keep pace with Night Train 8-5 on Sunday.

Night Train jumped out to the lead in the top of the first inning after Kestrel Dickerson doubled, scoring two runs, and Rob Field singled, scoring one run.

The Zombies flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the first, scoring five runs on three hits to take a 5-3 lead. The biggest blow in the inning was the result of a NightTrain error that allowed two to cross the plate.

Night Train retook the lead in the top of the third when Ben McLagan doubled, scoring two runs, and Ben Broccoli singled, scoring one run.

Ben McLagan earned the win for Night Train, giving up six hits and five runs (zero earned) over five innings, striking out three and walking four. Brad Gerbus took the loss for Zombies. He went seven innings, allowing seven runs on 10 hits, striking out seven and walking one. Chris Dennis earned the save.

Mike Merfeld, Brad Gerbus, and Rome Revis each collected two hits for the Zombies. Erik James, Brad Gerbus, and Mike Pelzl each drove in one run. Mike Pelzl led the team with two walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, accumulating eight walks for the game. The Zombies turned three double plays in the game, and didn't commit a single error in the field. Mike Fay had the most chances in the field with 12.

The Zombies have the week off for Independence Day, and return to play the Reds on July 14th.
