Happy International Women's Day! At TFW Denver, we are lucky to have an incredible network of women. From our owner to all of our current coaches to a majority of our students, we are constantly surrounded by strong, encouraging, and determined Warrior women. They show up for themselves and for each other every day. They are setting beautiful examples for their families. They are making strides to be better every day, and without doubt, they are impacting the world around them as they do.

Every time a bell rings, a Warrior gets a new PR. đź”” That's how the quote goes, right? Well, at least, at TFW it does!

It's a max lift day, and TFW Denver Warriors are breaking PRs and setting new goals for their barbell overhead press.

The words we use have influence over our attitudes. "Have to" suggests an obligation, and an attitude of obligation will steal your joy. "Get to" suggests an opportunity, and if we are consistently reminding ourselves of how grateful we are for the many opportunities given to us, we will have more joy and more motivation.

"Get to" is the key to great effort and, eventually, great success. One little word swap; big attitude change and big results.

What do you "get to" do today?

Our most recent visitors to TFW Denver were Joel, Tim, and Stephen from Training for Warriors - Overland Park in Kansas City.

They showed up on a Thursday, and even though they could feel the altitude, they jumped right into ladders and worked like champs through the entire practice. It was wonderful to have their energy in the Dojo for a couple days. Great work, guys!

We can't wait to see who visits in 2023! If you could go anywhere in the world to train at another TFW for a few days, where would you most like to go?

Wishing you a happy and healthy 2023 from TFW Denver!

And now, to close out our and the year: Please congratulate TFW Denver's December 2022 Warrior of the Month, Michael Stratton! 🎉

Michael joined TFW Denver nearly a year ago, and he took on a 6-Week Challenge by himself (not impossible by any means, but these types of challenges are so much easier to do with a group of people helping support, encourage, and hold each other accountable throughout the six weeks.) But Michael followed the plan to a T and showed up five days a week. Through those six weeks, he gained 4 lbs of muscle and lost 7% body fat overall. Incredible progress that he's maintained for the past 8 months!

Within months after starting, Michael was able to do his very first chin-up, and earlier this month, he did four in a row. And he continues to make huge strength gains and set new PRs! Results like this come with showing up regularly, never missing strength days, eating whole foods, and finding balance in moderation.

Congratulations, Michael, on all that you've accomplished in 2022! We can't wait to see what you'll do in the new year!

TFW Denver's November 2022 Warrior of the Month is a huge inspiration to so many in this Familia. Today we celebrate Robin MacKinnon!

In August 2020, Robin had a terrible fall, seriously injuring her back, and has experienced chronic pain since. While she is still waiting on some necessary procedures to help ease her pain, Robin continues to regularly attend classes at the dojo, working through modifications and regressions to accommodate her injury.

Such pain certainly comes with frustration, anger, heartache, and feelings of wanting to quit. But Robin has truly tapped into her Warrior Within, and she has never given up. Some days, just walking into the dojo is excruciating, so she foam rolls and works on her PT exercises. She meets her challenges head on, does her best with the things she CAN, and she keeps showing up.

Time and again, students in her classes comment on how incredible Robin is for continuously putting forth her best effort, even in the midst of her obstacles. Robin has been a TFW Denver Warrior for close to six years now, and she has always displayed the qualities we look for when choosing a Warrior of the Month, but she has especially exemplified such a Warrior these past couple years.

We’re all so proud of you, Robin, for your perseverance and your grit, and we're here for you all along the way! Hallussa!

Hands together for Lucinda Quattrochi—TFW Denver's October 2022 Warrior of the Month! 👏

Lucinda bleeds the black and gold, and she exemplifies what it means to tap into the Warrior Within. It's bigger than just being consistent, working the system, and following the programming—all of which Lucinda has been doing for more than 7 years now! She continuously makes huge strides in her lifts and overall training. And she crushes every challenge and then maintains her results. But it's also about living authentically and loving whole heartedly while traveling this very difficult path of health and fitness.

Lucinda has never once quit or given up. She always walks into the Dojo with a huge smile and a positive attitude. She leaves her troubles and challenges at the door and arrives ready to tackle her next practice. She has a quiet and calm presence as well as a joyful spirit and abundance of love for everyone, especially her TFW Familia. Lucinda has always been TFW Denver’s number one fan. She enjoys the holistic approach TFW offers and frequently expresses how much she loves our familia. It’s simply her nature, and she genuinely wants more joy, love, and success for others than she does for herself.

Lucinda started training at TFW because she wanted to get in better shape, but she remains because TFW is a part of her lifestyle and her journey. Lucinda is a local business owner (shoutout to the incredible Salon Sisu), and it was actually TFW that inspired her to branch out on her own and open her salon. That's why the name is even inspired by one of our values!

Congratulations, Lucinda! This is a long-overdue and very well-deserved honor.

Warrior of the Month is a time to recognize students in our dojo who are making a difference, not only in their own lives but in the lives of others. We have an incredible community that keeps attracting more incredible people, just like our September 2022 Warrior of the Month, Bill Heaston. From the beginning, it was clear this Warrior was someone special. Bill had already spent several years working the TFW system when he came to us from TFW Omaha.

When Bill walks into the dojo, he puts on his game face and he’s counting down the seconds for practice to start. He is so inspiring throughout his practice, and he’s the first one to yell positive affirmations to the group to keep them motivated and encourage them to put forth their best effort. He has an innate talent to motivate, encourage, and uplift everyone around him.

Bill serves as the program director of local nonprofit organization Second Wind Fund (Second Wind Fund, Inc.), which provides resources in our community for youth su***de prevention. He has fifteen years of nonprofit experience, and his passion is to serve the most vulnerable in his community. He often comments that he attends TFW not only for the physical benefits but also for his own mental health as well. It’s a time when he can let go of burdens, be present with his thoughts, and concentrate on his workout.

He doesn’t take himself too seriously or get worked up about the small stuff. He’s a bright and shining light within the dojo, and we're lucky to have him as part of the Familia. Congratulations, Bill, and thank you for all you do!

Once again, we're celebrating a Week of Warriors to highlight our remaining 2022 Warrior of the Month students. First up: Connie Hernandez, our August Warrior of the Month!

This Warrior's TFW journey paused while she had a foot reconstruction surgery in November 2021, and she wasn't able to return to the dojo until July 2022. Her operation took a toll on her body, and her recovery was a longer, tougher road than expected. But as soon as she was cleared to return after months of PT, Connie was back to do what she could with where she was.

She brought in her PT exercises and kept pressing forward. Every single practice helped Connie get stronger and more flexible. Every practice, she walked in with more confidence, mobility, and stability.

Connie always has a smile on her face and focuses on the exercises she can do rather than dwelling on those things further from her reach. Attitude is everything, and Connie’s positivity is contagious. She is such a bright light of inspiration; everyone took notice of how hard she works, how positive she is, and how much progress she was making.

Here's to Connie, the August 2022 Warrior of the Month! 👏👏👏 No doubt, she'll be inspiring us even more in 2023.

As we head into the holiday weekend, we have to extend a huge thanks to every member of this Familia for their generosity this season. Together, we collected a trunk-load of toys to donate to (along with a generous donation of toys from !), gathered lots of coats and cold weather clothing in two rounds of a coat drive for Jeffco Action Center, and raised nearly $670 for a local family in need of some support to help make their Christmas merry.
