I discovered Pilates as a freshman in college (almost a whooping 23 years ago!). It has changed my life many, many times over-- my physical body, my relationship with my body, athletic performance, career, methodology, and by extension most of my clients' lives.
Pilates is the most under-appreciated, misunderstood, and DISrespected form of movement. You'll find no shortage of people in this industry blabbing their opinions about it when they literally don't know jack s**t about it.
Pilates is my primary speciality along with hardstyle kettlebell, though it has never been my primary form of movement. At least not for extended periods. But nevertheless it has been a staple for more than half my life.
I knew when I finally opened my own gym that there would be what is equipment in here. It plays a major role in how I coach for strength, aesthetics, injury prevention, "rehab" (I am NOT a clinician), and performance. Still, most of my clients never do Pilates in and of itself. It's just integrated into every single session in some way or another.
As much as I can love Pilates, I also disagree with my fellow devotees who claim Pilates will fulfill all your body's needs. It's simply isn't true. But neither can yoga, powerlifting, or running. (Kettlebells might be the one that takes the cake but that's for another post.)
I've been taking a long break from doing any classes and workshops, but I'm toying with the idea of bringing mat Pilates back on either Saturday or Sunday. 8 or 9 AM. Let me know if you're interested and I'll let YOU know the deets.
It's been a hot minute (2+ years) since I put a newsletter out, but mosey on over to my website (luxstrengthdenver.com) and sign up. That way you don't miss any updates or announcements. I am slowly coming back to life (on IG and in general) so I hope to have lots to share with you soon. Plus you'll get a free workout from OMGAD 2.0!
But don't worry, I won't spam the living hell out of your inbox. That stuff drives me crazy.
