I originally started my business up with a partner in early 1988. We were trying to market a new style of training to police departments - "Less Than Lethal" using paintball marking guns (this was new tech and unheard of at the time). Shortly after that I was hired by the State of Illinois as a police officer (and my partner and I parted business ways - but we're still good friends). I was top sho
t at the academy and once I went into the field, it was discovered that I was the only officer in my department in the entire state that was shooting perfect 100's on the qualification shoots! I was quickly sent to range officer/firearms instructor school. I also started shooting in many forms of pistol competition around this time, with great success. After about six years, I was transferred to the regular State Police and sent back through the academy, where I was once again the top shot. I was recruited straight from the academy into the State Police Tactical Response Teams (TRT). I was top shooter at the TRT school and set a high score for the qualification shoots while there (Perfect 1000/1000 on pistol, but I dropped one shot on carbine and got 995/1000, resulting in a cumulative score of 1995/2000 for the school.). Being on the Teams was the greatest time of my life and I ended up getting to go through a lot of specialty training and got to work with some amazing people, while doing unbelievable things. I have trained with or been trained by people from pretty much any special operations branch you can think of, I've worked with the Secret Service during Presidential security details, and many other things I will not tell about here! Well before I left state service, I was already doing private training to select clients. When the state of Illinois opened up for concealed carry, I changed from doing all private training to "open enrollment" classes for the general public (although I still do private training) and I branched out into security work. After I attended my first (of many) sniper school(s), I began competing in sniper and precision rifle matches, along with tactical two-gun competitions. I have seen many changes in the way matches are done over the years of competition! So here I am over three decades after it all got started, still learning, training, and competing and still passing along my knowledge to other shooters. Hopefully I will be able to help the next generation of shooters achieve their potential!
