If you look up the âfood pyramidâ (the order in which we should consume our daily food intake) you will see the food pyramid. It may be slightly different on which pyramid you look, but itâs pretty close.
On slide 1 (The Standard American Diet) you will find that pyramid, which was designed by the Department of Agriculture (government) as a marketing scheme to promote carbohydrates.
On slide 2 you will find a pyramid that is primarily designed to promote a healthy lifestyle of quality products.
The slides are substantially different starting at the base. Slide 1 says âRice, Bread, Cereal, and Pasta groupâ is your primary choice. Slide 1 shows âFruits and veggiesâ as next important. Slide 1 then puts âMilk, yogurt, cheese, & meatsâ as the third. Followed by âFats, seeds, and sugarsâ last.
Slide 2 shows âMeats and some dairy (milk and cheese) as primary. Followed by âfruits and veggiesâ are next and then âfats, seeds, and sugarâ are put last.
WHAT WE KNOW
Obesity rate has risen to almost 40% (2 out of 5 people) and by 2030 itâs projected to raise to 60% (3 out of 5people).
WHY
The consumption of high processed and high sugar foods mixed with a low output of activity (daily exercise or movement) mixed with high levels of medicine (blood pressure medicine, cholesterol pills, OZEMPIC).
HOW DO WE FIX IT
We have to learn what our food intake SHOULD BE, not what we like to eat. Sure eating food that is bland or doesnât taste like your favorite meal, can be hard, but it takes time getting comfortable with the change. Be patient and try different foods.
âEat meat and veggies, nuts and seeds, some fruit, little starch, and no sugarâ
