Made an afternoon trip to Chalmette with my little sister who’s in from Oregon. Founds some big girls in MRGO. Gotten on OvercastLureCo Killa Creole hyper minnow on 1/4oz Slammer Jig heads.

Hit em again today. Made an impromptu trip to Hopedale. Tide was OUT when I got there. Had to rethink my plan. Caught a couple of hammers on the rocks near the dam on Mirrolure 17MR. Then cruised over to a couple of spots and found some nice fish on topwater. Same pattern except fished the drop offs instead of flats. Lost count, started just releasing and had a blast.

Hit Hopedale solo on Friday. Tide was very slow, fish weren’t where they were last Tuesday. Stayed in about a 1 mile radius. Revisited earlier spots and there they were. All fish caught on topwater, OvercastLureCo Hogzilla Baby Speck. Another……Great day on the water!

They’re here…………. Topwater was on fire today in Hopedale! Brought a friend and had a day. 2 man limit plus, plus, plus…….. All fish caught on OvercastLureCo Hogzilla Baby Speck. The smile on this guys face says it all😉

3/18 Hopedale- Water was LOW. On the way there saw boats on hoists over mud. Launched at 7:30am, headed straight to south side of dam where we found clean water last week in similar conditions. Water was a toasty 67 degrees, minimal i coming tide, no wind. Started throwing Mirrolure 17MR at outer rocks and picked up 4 12-14” trout on 1st 4 casts then nothing. Moved to damn fishing Overcastlureco Killa Creole Hyper Minnow with a 1/4oz Slammer jig head on the bottom, Bam! First fish was a 19” speck. Wound up with 10 in the box, released 4 over 20” including my PB, a 24.5” hammer. Great day on the water!

Captain Frenchy and I met up on the water in MRGO yesterday in ridiculous wind. Only 2 boats out there. Caught some nice trout and had some laughs.

Got on the water at 1:30. Wind was 20mph+, clear with a little sand stirring, tide moving in. Fish were scattered but all were big. Caught everything on on 1/4oz Slammer Jig heads #

2/25 Another killer day on the water in Chalmette. Solid 2 man limit on the MRGO. Water was slow moving and cloudy early. Picked up a 21”, 2 19” early on Mirrolure 17 MR. Water started moving later and cleared up. Finished the limit with Overcastlureco SaltnPeppa and Killa Creole Hyper Minnows on 1/4oz Slammer jig heads.

2/23/25 Late limit at MRGO in Chalmette. Got on the water at 11:00am. Water 53 degrees moving out, green but clarity was only about 18”. Bounced around fishing rocks and bottom. Got on em good around 3:30 with Mirrolure 17 MR and Overcastlureco SaltnPeppa HyperMinnow on a 1/4oz Slammer jig head. Had 3 a little over 13”, the rest were hammers.
