The last of the Annapolis to Bermuda race boats are closing in on the finish line. They have experienced extremely light air and at times had little boat speed. They are all extremely tired. When they get to the Royal Hamiton Amateur Dinghy Club, they will be greated by friendly faces and a cooler of Dark & Stormies. June 9 was Dark & Stormt Day so here is an interesting article about Bermuda's official cocktail, which is one of our favorites. Cheers to a great race for all of the participants! Ocean racing.... if it was easy everyone would be doing it!

The Dark ’n Stormy is the inexorable concoction of Bermuda’s British history, a literal fusion of our merchant and naval traditions. That it is today one of only four internationally trademarked cocktails further reflects Bermudians’ entrepreneurial spirit and legacy of punching above our weig...

We are in the middle of a lot of sailing events! The middle of May to mid June is an exciting time of year for events. Today we are highlighting the Annapolis to Bermuda Ocean Race!

You can follow this race on the Yellow Brick App. The screen shots are from Stephanie's android phone. You can use the app from either iPhone or Android. We have a few boats with our sails in this one. Aurora is an X482 carrying a full set of Evolution Sails and is currently listed 2nd in Line Honors and ORC. Widow Maker is a C&C 44 CB carrying an Evolution #3 headsail, is currently 3rd in Patriot, 12th in Line Honors and ORC. Widow Maker gave the opportunity for people who had never been offshore to race this race, which is a huge leatning experience ad really cool opportunity. Participants needed to get Safe at Sea certification to do this race. Stephanie loaned her offshore gear to a Widow Maker crew member who had not been offshore and is hoping her 1st ocean race is exceptional!. So far so good! Aurora has about 170 nm to the finish line!

Pictures is a beautiful new mainsail on an Andrews 27 built from Dimension-Polyant Carbon Sport Lite Skin 10 cloth.

Why do we like this cloth for a club racing boat? This cloth was developed for club racing. What makes this cloth a good choice for boats between 25 and 40 feet who are club racing are the Carbon ribbons, Technora X ply and Polyester scrim. There are a lot of composite cloths out there but they lack 1 of those 3 things that makes this cloth a good choice for a club racer who pushes their sails.

We have sold several sails this year built from this cloth to replace 8 - 10 yr old sails that were built from this cloth. The old sails are now delivery sails. That is an exceptional life span for a club race composite sail!

Give us a call and we can show you a cloth sample today!

Southern Bay Race Week wrapped up yesterday. We had 3 days of breeze and a lot of fun!

The US Naval Academy midshipmen brought 4 Navy 44's down to race. They brought a high level of competition to the field which all enjoyed. And they retired the colors in the evening. It is always is always wonderful having these great kids join the regatta!

We are on day 2 of Southern Bay Race Week!!! Heavy air will be the talk at the party tonight! Today's sails of choice will be #2 or #3 Genoas, smaller heavy air spinnakers and possibly some reefed mains because a flat boat is a fast boat. Over powered boats laying on theor ear are not fast!

Stephanie enjoing some quiet time working on the Cordes.

Last Friday night into early Saturday Stephanie was up all night updating all of us on the Down the Bay Race while working on the HYC race committee. This week she will be at Hampton Yacht Club for Southern Bay Race Week. The event begins tomorrow at 4pm Goslings Rum and a steel drum to welcome the sailors for the skipper check in and meeting. Stephanie will be supporting our sailors and racing with a customer. Be sure to look for her posts over the next few days!

Today we have reflected on how fortunate we are due to the sacrifice of others. Thank you to all who have served our country.
