Season 2 Final Thoughts 🏐
Where to begin! Wow, he had lot of issues this season! If it was my first year, I would be terrified to keep going! One thing I have learned over the years in life, is every challenge, mistake or hiccup you face gives you the opportunity to do better and improve. The key is not to make the same mistakes over and over again! You can only truly succeed by first failing.
I am not going to lie; I struggled mid-season. I hate failing! I hate letting people down!! Yet it is something I going to have to get comfortable with. I doubted myself and wondered if this is something I should even be doing. Then my awesome, supportive, husband reminded me -- I am not going to get everything right from the beginning. I am not going to be the perfect club for everyone. And I am getting girls on the court that normally won't or can't. In the end, that is all that matters. The girls. That they are able to play and learn the game so they can grow confident in the game they love.
I did not start this club to be another 'big organization, competitive'. I started this to get girls on the court that can't pay the high prices of a typical travel club program. This program is small and simple. We practice once a week on Sundays until play dates start. Then will practice when available on Sundays. It is a feeder club. An instructional club. Now for season three, I will plan more appropriately. We will have an event or two then a practice. I got a little schedule happy making sure the girls had adequate play time and completely lost track of the option for practices! But I won't be adding practices during the week. With the right coaches, the goal is to practice, then start playing, and learn as we play as well.
Our results for each level for the season are as follows:
The 11U 3rd grade team finished the season with 6 wins, 11 loses and 6 ties. Overall, they improved dramatically and we can't wait to see them all grow if they continue the game!

11U 4th grade had a great season, with 9 wins, 9 loses and 2 ties. This group also improved so much over the season and were fun to watch!

13U was a young team with only a few playing previously. We started strong then lost a player due to an injury and never seemed to recoup. Many of the girls are very talented yet struggled with confidence and understanding the game. With continued development and reps, they could have a lot of potential. We finished the season with 9 wins and 16 losses.

15U had a pretty good season overall. This was one we had lots of girls back out from the beginning causing us to merge two teams into one. We had a few issues with sportsmanship and commitment from players on the team, which held us back. At the end of the day, they finished with 11 wins and 12 losses. Best of luck to those going into HS next year!!

17U Pink finished the season with 6 wins and 26 losses and 17U Gray (the very young team) finished with 1 win and 22 losses. Although the stats are not great on paper, I personally saw improvement in a lot of the girls I was able to watch from time to time. These challenging games and competitive events are tough, but it pushes them to play at a level out of their comfort zone. And I am very proud of each and every one that showed up every day for their team and gave it their all.

With the struggles we faced this year at the high school level, we will be implementing lots of changes. We will require a contract that each player will sign committing to the team. When you don't show up, it impacts the overall team. Moving forward, if you miss you practice or an event, it will result in you sitting the next game. If that continues you will be cut from the team and no longer welcome back to DVC. I will also be limiting the number of teams created. This is mainly due to the number of reliable coaches I will have available next season. And will also allow us to make a few more competitive teams. If I have enough coaches available, we will do a competitive program and an instructional level.
Until Fall 2026, have a great summer to all the families of DVC! Best of luck to all middle school and high school players with their 2026/2027 school season!! Play Smart, Play Calm, Play Strong.
