Season 2 Final Thoughts 🏐

Where to begin! Wow, he had lot of issues this season! If it was my first year, I would be terrified to keep going! One thing I have learned over the years in life, is every challenge, mistake or hiccup you face gives you the opportunity to do better and improve. The key is not to make the same mistakes over and over again! You can only truly succeed by first failing.

I am not going to lie; I struggled mid-season. I hate failing! I hate letting people down!! Yet it is something I going to have to get comfortable with. I doubted myself and wondered if this is something I should even be doing. Then my awesome, supportive, husband reminded me -- I am not going to get everything right from the beginning. I am not going to be the perfect club for everyone. And I am getting girls on the court that normally won't or can't. In the end, that is all that matters. The girls. That they are able to play and learn the game so they can grow confident in the game they love.

I did not start this club to be another 'big organization, competitive'. I started this to get girls on the court that can't pay the high prices of a typical travel club program. This program is small and simple. We practice once a week on Sundays until play dates start. Then will practice when available on Sundays. It is a feeder club. An instructional club. Now for season three, I will plan more appropriately. We will have an event or two then a practice. I got a little schedule happy making sure the girls had adequate play time and completely lost track of the option for practices! But I won't be adding practices during the week. With the right coaches, the goal is to practice, then start playing, and learn as we play as well.

Our results for each level for the season are as follows:

The 11U 3rd grade team finished the season with 6 wins, 11 loses and 6 ties. Overall, they improved dramatically and we can't wait to see them all grow if they continue the game!

Top Server: Zaylee Buffenbarger
Top Passer: Kinsley Penn

11U 4th grade had a great season, with 9 wins, 9 loses and 2 ties. This group also improved so much over the season and were fun to watch!

Top Server: Adalyn Wright
Top Passer: Addie Beach

13U was a young team with only a few playing previously. We started strong then lost a player due to an injury and never seemed to recoup. Many of the girls are very talented yet struggled with confidence and understanding the game. With continued development and reps, they could have a lot of potential. We finished the season with 9 wins and 16 losses.

Top Server: Ava Hicks
Top Passer: Ava Hicks

15U had a pretty good season overall. This was one we had lots of girls back out from the beginning causing us to merge two teams into one. We had a few issues with sportsmanship and commitment from players on the team, which held us back. At the end of the day, they finished with 11 wins and 12 losses. Best of luck to those going into HS next year!!

Top Server: Katie Reneau
Top Passer: Leah Engles

17U Pink finished the season with 6 wins and 26 losses and 17U Gray (the very young team) finished with 1 win and 22 losses. Although the stats are not great on paper, I personally saw improvement in a lot of the girls I was able to watch from time to time. These challenging games and competitive events are tough, but it pushes them to play at a level out of their comfort zone. And I am very proud of each and every one that showed up every day for their team and gave it their all.

With the struggles we faced this year at the high school level, we will be implementing lots of changes. We will require a contract that each player will sign committing to the team. When you don't show up, it impacts the overall team. Moving forward, if you miss you practice or an event, it will result in you sitting the next game. If that continues you will be cut from the team and no longer welcome back to DVC. I will also be limiting the number of teams created. This is mainly due to the number of reliable coaches I will have available next season. And will also allow us to make a few more competitive teams. If I have enough coaches available, we will do a competitive program and an instructional level.

Until Fall 2026, have a great summer to all the families of DVC! Best of luck to all middle school and high school players with their 2026/2027 school season!! Play Smart, Play Calm, Play Strong.

15U Started the day rocky with 2 losses then ended the day winning their final game on Sunday, March 15th.

Reaghan Michael led the day with serving with an 87% success rate. Lexi Griffin, Katie Reneau and Kat Morris also had a great day serving 83% of their serves. Reaghan M also led the day with 46% of her serves ending with an ace. Reaghan's current Ace to Ratio is outstanding with 3.7 aces to every 1 errored serve. Keep up the good work!

Reaghan M also did great passing a 2.50, while Lexi Griffin finished with a 2.08. Lexi received over 70 passes while maintaining a great passing number!

Rehgan Reneau and Leah Engles led the team in hitting at the net. Rehgan R finished with a 15% and Leah a 19%. While Leah holds the team high for the season at 27%.

This team has a lot of talent but struggles overall with attitude and sportsmanship. As we continue to push through the season we will work on focusing to become a positive teammate and coachable athlete. Coaches will choose effort and skill over attitude 99% of the time.

15U will take a three-weekend break full of practices before they play at Delphi on Sunday, April 12th.

Sunday @ Rebel Volleyball Club

Sunday we played with an almost full roster, winning 2 of our 3 games for the day.

Paislee Henderson led the day serving not missing any of her 17 serves for the day! Awesome job! Ava Hicks and Isla Maxwell also did great serving for the day. Isla brook her bad luck streak at the serve line and ended up serving 12 of her 14 serves over for the day! Not only was she able to completely most of her serves she also held the most aces for the day serving 9 of her 14 serves as Aces!! Kinzie Cree also served 10 of her 19 serves as Aces!

As we struggled with Saturday, we could not receive the ball well. As the day continued, we did start communicating a bit more. We had multiple girls get aced on every serve that came their way and several over 50% serves missed. We will continue to work on staying low, moving to the ball, working on our form and angles and talking on the court to bring these numbers up.

All they girls did great with free ball kills (Paislee, Ava, Josie, and Kam) hitting at a positive number. Kinzie and Isla both played aggressive, with Isla finishing with an 80% and Kinzie with a 20%. This is great!

The 13U will have a long break filled with a few practices before playing again on April 11th at Lincoln Volleyball Club.

Saturday @ Eastern Volleyball Club

13U started the day strong winning their first two games. After a 3-game break, the girls came out and lost the final two games. While we only had 6 players, all the girls played their best the entire day.

Josie Haas finished the day leading the team with 84% of her serves successful. Followed closely by Ava Hicks at 82%. Ava also led the day with aces serving 70% of her serves as unreceivable!!

Our entire team struggles and has since the beginning of the season receiving serves. One of the biggest issues is the lack of communication. We will continue to work on this to build a strong receiving team. Kinzie Cree led the day passing a 0.75 followed by Ava at 0.74. I would like to see all these girls passing a 1.00 at a minimum for serve receiving. As you can see by the chart below our Aced on Serve is incredibly high for all girls. We need to get that percentage to 20% or less.

Layla White led the day with kills racking up 4 free ball kills for the day. While Kinzie finished with a 39% as she continues to get aggressive at the net on overpasses.

The 11U teams traveled to Wabash to play at Norse Volleyball Club Sunday, March 15th. The girls played strong but finished the day with no wins.

Addison Parks finished the day as the leading server for the team, serving 88% of her serves successfully. She was followed closely by Zaylee Buffenbarger serving at 83%. Kendall Parks finished high for the team on Aces. She served 35% of her success serves over as unreceivable. Serve receive numbers were a little skewed this week. All the girls managed to pass well, however we are still struggling receiving the ball and letting it hit the floor to often.

11U will take a long break full of practices before playing again on April 18th at Eastern Volleyball Club.

17U Teams travel to Hammond, Sunday, March 8, 2026

17U Gray finished the day 0 - 3. This team continues to fight tough in an older bracket of play and with girls leaving the team.

Kinleigh Brown finished strong for the day serving ALL of her serves over successfully! Brayleigh Rumell also did great serving 93% of her serves successfully. Elizabeth Dyer led the day with the most aces, serving 17% of her serves as aces.

Lyla had an outstanding day receiving serves, finishing the day with a 2.17, allowing only 13% of the serves she received unplayable.

The girls all struggled at the net on hitting. Lyla finished the highest with 7% hitting average for the day.
