“What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger”—but that old saying leaves something out: growth depends on being ready to learn from what you face.

In biology, this idea is known as hormesis: a manageable amount of stress can help an organism adapt and build resilience.

The challenges we overcome can become part of our strength—but only when we take time to learn from them.

Don't run from life's challenges. They are there to build you into a stronger, more resilient human.

A student will inevitably reflect their teacher’s influence, but must keep working to make the art their own—learning from experience and shaping those lessons into a personal martial path.

We took a team of 4 to Fuji In Milwaukee Saturday finishing with 5 medals; 2 gold and 3 silver.

Joe Pelnar continues to improve, going 4-0 winning both his Gi and No-Gi brackets. Joe was always a solid wrestler but has really added a very fundamentally sound pressure oriented jiujitsu style which is very tough to deal with.

Coach Tom took silver despite being the lightest (and oldest by 1-2 decades) in the absolute bracket going 1 and 1, winning his first match with a guillotine from top position in under a minute and losing his next match by heel hook.

For the kids program, our student Dominic once again showed great improvement! He won 3 matches displaying some beautiful guard play and takedowns against highly experienced, skilled opponents.

Nolan took double silver displaying great skill standing and also passing guard and top positon.

Both Nolan and Dominic displayed much more confidence, awareness and skill than previous competitions. They have been competing regularly and the past experiences are shaping them!

Overall a great day for the entire team!
