We are only a few weeks ago until we welcome over 30 JROTC cadets to the DLYC to work on sailing, leadership, and sportsmanship skills! We are looking for extra financial support for the program to ensure they can participate with the least amount of burden. We are about halfway to our goal - if you are interested in assisting with this program, the link is below. Anything helps!

It is with deep and profound sadness to inform our members & friends that one of our long-time sailors, member, & dear friend Matt Sloan, has passed away in March 2026.

Matt was a phenomenal sailor and even better friend. He sailed a Flying Scot named the Blue Bayou, aptly named due to the striking blue hull color; a rarity found in fleets today so he was easy to spot on the course. We were so fortunate to have him in out fleet and club all these years. He will truly be missed.

He was often found enjoying the DLYC grounds with lots of friends and visiting our neighbors at the Inn Between. He was always a joy to say hello to and always greeted you kindly.

An incredibly intelligent man, strong sailor, and wonderful friend. We are sending thoughts and prayers to family and friends.

We will be welcoming over 30 Midwest Navy JROTC Sailing Cadets to the DLYC this June and we are looking for sponsorships to help assist with program costs for the cadets. Any donation helps, we are so grateful for the generosity thus far and are looking to reach our $5,000 goal. DLYC Members, Sailors, & Friends -

This June, the DLYC will be hosting over 30 Navy JROTC Sailing Academy cadets for a week of training. How fortunate we are to be a site where these cadets can not only learn imperative leadership training, but also become proficient in boat handling and general sailing skills.

We are reaching out to our DLYC community for support in sponsoring these cadets to assist with covering program costs such as lodging, food, and uniforms. Financial sponsorship for this program removes financial barriers that may keep cadets from attending this incredible program. We are grateful for your consideration. We are also looking for volunteers to assist during the week.

As a yacht club, our mission is to promote the sport of sailing, competition, and sportsmanship in every boat class we are able to support. We are looking forward to supporting these cadets and welcoming them to the DLYC.
