Water Watch Wednesday

This morning's lake level is 1056.82 up 0.05 from yesterday morning (1056.77 ft), up 1.04 from last week (1055.78 ft) and up 9.19 feet from a month ago (1047.63 ft).

The water is low and boaters should always be alert for hazards. Low-lying islands and shoals are present in many places. Polarized sunglasses can help you see submerged hazards through the water by reducing reflected glare.

Monarch Facts

Monarchs are known for their incredible migration journey, traveling up to 3,000 miles from North America to central Mexico for the winter. The Monarch caterpillar is very hungry and can gain 2700 times their original weight. How to tell whether they are male or female. A Male Monarch has two black dots on their hindwings like in the photo below. Females don't have the two dots but have thicker veins on their wings.

We'll start off the afternoon with solar telescopes set up at the NPS Visitor Center (4:00-6:00pm), then move just down the road to the Diablo East Marina Parking Lot for nighttime telescope viewing from 8:30-10:30pm.
