As a part of the long term goals of Jackalope Anglers LLC we hope to engage in efforts to conserve and protect the environment both locally and around the world. The Sustainable Tourism to Save the Mahseer project is actually an idea that has been brewing for over 10 years now and we feel the time is right to take the next steps towards making an impact. We have set a rather ambitious goal but feel as though there could be enough enthusiasm to back such an endeavor and hopefully in time to really effect the future of this species. The concept is pretty straight forward. We would like to raise awareness about the threat to the Nepali Golden Mahseers environment from hydropower development and continue to create a viable alternative motivation for protecting the ecosystem through fishing tourism. In conjunction with the Nepal River Conservation Trust and other partners there is real momentum towards reaching this goal. There is still a lot of work to be done and significant support is needed but with the help of others we hope that we can have a real impact.
