I had a big moment of overwhelm earlier today. It hit me like a ton of bricks. My to-do list has felt never-ending all summer and I was thinking it feels like I’m always climbing a mountain that I will never get to the top of. No matter how many things I check off. Or goals I accomplish. No matter how many retreats or camps run successfully. The mountain is tall and it’s forever. My ambition to do more, better, again. It’s loud.
It keeps me going. And keeps me growing. Which is a beautiful thing. But in moments where it feels all consuming I need things to anchor me back to my heart and the reason I do what I do in the first place.
That’s when today, after laying in a pile of overwhelm on my floor for 20 minutes, I was like “woah I need to reconnect to gratitude right now” so I pulled out my phone to look back on some of the pictures that remind me of all the beauty and success and connections I’ve already created. That I have, right now.
This picture is one that stood out to me. It’s from our retreat this summer. With one of the women who is a client of mine, a friend, and truly a kindred spirit.
You can see in my energy the felt love between us. The connections I create with my clients bring me so much gratitude. They carry me through the overwhelm. And bring me back to my why. So I can exhale the stress that was piling up and come back to joy again.
I think most of us will always be climbing an endless mountain, because that’s simply a life filled with goals and dreams. A desire to be continuously creating and growing. At the same time, I can recognize that ambition needs to be balanced with perspective. And I feel gratitude and looking at all that is here now can be a beautiful antidote for that. ❤️
