6th grader Jacob Brown finished 4th place in the Division 2/3/4 Boys Race at the Ohio Middle School State Cross Country Meet on Sunday. He ran 12:25 for 2 miles — his fastest race ever!

Coach Amber Brown (a.k.a. Mom) shared the following:

"As our youngest Jake is often along for the ride. In the last year he is often content to stay home with the dogs and play video games with his Van Buren cousins on FaceTime. But he has a big passion for running. He has practiced every day with the junior high and high school teams mostly because Sam is his ride home after school, but also because he loves running.

Today he got to show off his talent and his passion for this sport!! In driving rain and muddy conditions he ran his best race ever to finish 4th. We are super proud of him and excited for what junior high will bring for him."

Congratulations, Jake, on an incredible season — from your elementary races to the State Middle School Meet!

Throughout everything each and every one of these kids have been through, they’ve pushed through it. Mentally, physically, and emotionally; they’ve grown and gotten stronger.
That’s what it’s all about, while the achievements are great, the memories are where it matters, and it’s safe to say that these kids have made many memories this season!
We’re so very proud of everyone that has been putting in so much hard work; from June till now. We’re very proud of you.
To our seniors, soak in the moment. Allow yourself to feel the emotions and to remember the hard work and fun memories and even the not so great ones that have all grown you. We love you and have been greatly blessed to coach you.
To our qualifiers, congratulations!!!! Lavish in this moment with gratitude and humility to the opportunity you’ve been blessed with through the gift you have to run. Enjoy it, don’t fret. Trust the hard work you’ve been putting into everything thus far, trust the Lord to bring you through this, and remember you can do hard things because you’ve done hard things. We’re so excited for you and so very proud of you :)

As the Seniors sign the “Barney Box” at the GMC meet, it signifies the end of the season isn’t far off.

Throughout the season—listening, watching, day by day, week by week, to the athletes - you see it.

Between school, work, life, practices, relationships, and other activities pulling in multiple directions one truth becomes clear:

It’s not easy.
If anything—it’s tough.

From early mornings heading to school to late nights finishing homework…Balancing classes, practices, jobs, and friendships. Pushing through the pain during a run, then pushing through deadlines at home.

It’s not easy.

There are days when your legs feel heavy and motivation runs thin. Days when it would be easier to give up—to walk instead of run, to throw in the towel and say “I Quit”, to call off work, or to skip the assignment.

The pressure is real:

If grades drop, parents get upset.
If goals aren’t met, frustration sets in.
If you miss work, money disappears.

Easy? That word rarely shows up.

But maybe… just maybe… that’s exactly how it’s supposed to be. Maybe it’s supposed to be hard!

So if you’re reading this and life feels hard—

Embrace it. Maybe this is the WAY.

Embrace it. Maybe everything you’ve ever wanted is on the other side of something difficult.

Embrace it. Because YOU are strong enough to handle it.

Cross Country Runners aren’t built for "easy"!!!

YOU are built to rise.
YOU are built to fight through the hard.
YOU are built to give it everything you’ve got—and enjoy the journey along the way!

Comfort never created strength.

Struggle did!

Make this week a great week.
