Leslie’s love of teaching truly began at the University of Illinois while teaching Ballet to Dance minors. She is still able to teach and help others with the Pilates Method; helping all of her clients achieve their full potential by connecting their mind and body. Leslie Golub received a dance scholarship at the University of Illinois while working toward her M.F.A. After acquiring her Master’s D
egree in 1988 Leslie still had the desire to perform and Dance. In 1988, Leslie Golub moved to New York and although suffering from chronic injuries she performed with Nai-Ni Chen, Bertram Ross, Geulah Abrahams Dance Works and Chris Ferris. She was only able to continue dancing because she incorporated Pilates Training into her weekly routine. She took private lessons twice a week to heal and work on her bodies imbalances in an effective and non-weight bearing way! After years of private instruction, Leslie trained to become a certified Pilates Instructor at “The New York Institute of Movement Science”, and later brought The Pilates Method to the Midwest in 1991. While teaching Pilates in Evanston, at The Center for Muscle Therapy Leslie decided to further her training at The PhysicalMind Institute in New Mexico. She became a certified Teacher Trainer, providing numerous workshops and certifying hundreds of instructors from her Chicago studio -LESLIE’S TOTAL FITNESS-
Leslie Golub also took her workshops on the road teaching at The Dance Center at Columbia College, The Presidential Fitness Club, The Multiplex in Deerfield, and numerous North Shore Yoga Studios. In 2004, Leslie sold her Pilates studio in the city and she and her husband moved their family to Deerfield, Il. She has been sharing her love and expertise for Pilates to the North Shore; helping her clients increase range of motion and flexibility while improving their alignment and posture.
